removing crank pulley...

Any tips on pulling off the crank pulley/ dampener in a driveway? ( '89 5.0 HO) or should I just find a .. pulley puller .. before trying anything else, so as not to risk damage to the engine, myself, or other miscellaneous parts?

I have one.. but it's at work.. all the way at the shore.. and yes they exist.. but they're just called a 'puller' 3 prongs, typically.. run bolts from the 3 prongs into the pulley, then the center of the puller usually has a stud with a landing on the end for using a wrench.. turn the stud, the stud pushes on solid ground, the prongs pull the pulley out as you torque the nut.. and eventually the pulley pops off, if that makes sense to you..

I was just hoping there was some other way of doing it haha..

can you wedge something into the belt to keep it from moving then just use a breaker bar on the bolts of the crank pulley? Thats how i changed mine on my 3.8... dunno if the 5.0 is the same type of deal though

I already have all the bolts out, the 4 for the pulley.. and the crank bolt, too.. I can't pull the pulley from the crank.. it's stuck on there good

I ended up getting my puller from work.. came right off

my damn timing chain, I have no idea how, I didn't expect what I saw at all.. the timing chain was half off the cam sprocket.. go figure

I had lots of people tell me it couldn't jump time with the double roller setup.. yeah, sure..

the pully your talking about is supposed to come off without using any type of puller, that sucker must have been baked on...

it was baked on.. I sanded the mating surfaces clean and used antiseize on it.. damn aftermarket pulleys

my timing chain jumped, but not all the way.. maybe skipped ~2-3 teeth? it came off one set of teeth on the crank sprocket.. (double roller, it was only on the outer set of teeth)

new timing chain + fresh coolant & headers... and ran 13.78@102 some lol..
