Car of the month or something?

An actual up to date car of the week/month that is easy to feature, just pop up the garage with their info in it

Car of the week I would personally say is out of the question. Car of the month is a good idea though! On some other forums even car of the month gets to be a hassle, on bimmerforums it's car of the moment and they just change it whenever they feel like it, haha.

true... i just figured it would be really easy here since we have a member garage going on, just linke to it so it would be VERY easy to maintain.... just linke to it with a pic of it to click to go to it...

yea month would be better, or perhaps have a few and just have em set to randomize each log on time, like show the main pic thats displayed on your garage and if they like it they can click and go look at it, just tell people that the first pic uploaded will be whats shown.

i would like having like a random car each time you sign on. Not necessarily a car of the month or whatever, just a random car (of a regular member...) that you could see.

We could require X number of posts, X number of photos, etc.

that could work too although somebody is bound to think it's rigged because person X's car is always up there and there's never is. Plus some of the cars on there aren't mustangs, say mine for example, and I saw some others. I still like the idea though, those are just some things you'll have to figure out

I like the car of the month. But you have to change it.

well, random is random, and screw anybody else. nah, it would be random, I'm sure. If there's a system for random placement of ads, I'm sure we could pull off a random pic + link.

We would have to have a way of cerifying which cars are possible for the selection. Like I said before, I don't want old members or people we aren't sure will stick around up there. We could have a mod or admin decide "ok, this person is going to stay around, they have met the requirements of X number of pictures and X number of posts." Sort of like the quotes submissions, but with the cars.

couldnt we also do quartetly? so every 3 months theres a new car featured...that way its not to crazy trying to pick another one the following month and how about having us vote on it in a poll of say 4-5 cars and the same car cannot win the following month or maybe the same year to keep it new.

its very easy to do a random pic, just build a table of all the users and assign each a number from 0 to 9999 ir more i guess do it to 99999 to be safe, then use a randomize function with some seed (system time) and then modulus it by the total number of users and you have a random user key.

Well, the featured car is going to be implemented when we begin work on the front page which will begin shortly as I will have the final changes to the garage up some time tonight.

As for picking the random car....I wasn't even going to go that hi tech. I was going to get a query of all member rides (that are fords) that have at least x number of pics and then pick a random number between 0 and ubound of the array of garages...that will be the featured member for the day/week/month/whatever time frame we decide to go with.

Anyhow, the moral of the story is, it is coming. :

I kinda like bane-s idea, voting on a few would be cool and then not letting them win again till the new year. That would be awesome.

Well, you are able to rank garages currently. We could run the featured car based on it's current ranking making sure not to pic the same one within a certain time frame.

yea a random member might blow due to lack of pictures and not even a stang who knows lol just need a little brain storming to come up with a solid idea.

I understand Whats your ticket for? I hate tickets. I personally believe cops can spend a lot more time doing other things. I read all the time about cops not showing when something dangerous is going on but I bet you during that time you can find someone in the city who got a speeding ticket. When I used to work at Rite-Aid we had an armed robbery to which the cops took three hours to show up. We ended up just going home because we had stayed like two hours after closing and they never showed up. So three hours is just an estimate, haha.

The people who created the speed limit I assume did it because they wanted people to be safe; that is what you should actually look at when you're giving peole tickets. If you're being safe, the speed you're going doesn't actually matter. I bet the autobahn has around the same amount of accidents that we have on our local freeways and they can go speeds double that of our speed limits.

The only reason they give so many tickets out these days is to raise revenue, but that was not their initial purpose. If they need to raise more money they have to find a better way of doing it that is distributed among the masses. It is my opinion that tickets do not work anyway, I don't personally know of anyone that got a ticket then stopped doing what they recieved the ticket for. When was the last time you went driving and saw nobody speeding, nobody rolling slowly through stop signs? Perhaps it's just California. I gotta start a thread on this with what I really think, haha.

I agree with most of what you said, but if there were no speeding tickets or speed limits, there are so many tards out there who can't control their vehicle. Hell, there are ppl here who can't control a vehicle at 5 mph, much less 80+.

I got one for going 78 in a 65. but I was in a 70. The cop was a dick, I asked him about the speed limit, and he was like, "yeah, it is a 70.. hmph." and then handed me the ticket for the 65. i was like, "aren't you gonna change it...?" He said, "Nah, I bet if you were going 78 in a 70 you'd go 78 in a 65 too."

WTF!

Why not have a montly vote for stang of the month?

A local NJ board I'm on hosts a vote every month. They pick say 5 random cars every month and people vote on em.

If you wanted you could do the random number generator for which 5 to pick, and then have the vote go by that.

I would definitely not stand for that! Sorry to laugh at your misfortunes but I've probably had a worse ticket than anyone on this board before Even though he's probably right, it's still not lawful to write tickets like that. However, that ticket would have been thrown out in a second. It's easy to win a case when you can prove the cop's....I can't remember the word, but basically that he is inobservant. ESPECIALLY when he writes the ticket incorrectly, such as the wrong speed limit or the incorrect license plate number
