How to insert pictures into post, not as attachments?

Easy question, I'm sure, because everyone else seems to do it, but I can't figure it out. When you click the Insert Image button it asks for a link. What?? How do I link to the picture? I have a picture on my computer that I want to post to a thread, in the past I've always done it as attachments because I can't figure this out. But that makes a small thumbnail. I want to do it the way everyone else does, where it's directly in the post. Sorry for the stupid question.

Are you on the app or on a computer?

Well all pictures are going to technically be an attachment. Are you trying to make it so they aren't all at the bottom after your text?

Yes, exactly. When they are at the bottom of the text, they are little thumbnails under "Attachments". How do other people do it so that they are big, and embedded directly into the post? That seems to be what almost everyone does.

Ok, so under the text area, click "Go Advanced"

Then go down to "Manage Attachments"

Select the files you want from your computer and then click upload

You will see them appear above the "Manage Attachments", now they are ready to go in your post, if you type our your regular message they will appear at the bottom as actual pictures (size of picture does matter, so if the original picture is tiny, its going to show up tiny in your post).

If you want to type text, then have a picture, then type more text you will have to click on the little paper clip next to the smiley face above the text area

Like so.

Hmmm, thanks for the detailed instructions! But I don't think it worked. Check out the Rice or Nice thread to see what happened. It just put a link to the attachment, didn't put a picture at all.

What are your pictures saved as on your computer? The picture in the thread says imagejpeg_0.jpg, so it looks like its a "jpeg" trying to convert to a "jpg".

Soccerluvr, although the filename says jpeg, the extension is indeed .jpg. I don't know, I'm about to give up on this. Will try converting it to .bmp or something else, see if that works.

FullyAutomatic, I know that, see my original post. I'm trying NOT to make it the little attached thumbnail like the one you posted, but an embedded picture directly in the post.

Alright, got it to work. Soccerluvr, the trick was to do the second thing that you suggested, having the text below the picture by clicking on the paper clip after doing the "Go Advanced" and "Manage Attachments" thing. If you just do the Manage Attachments without clicking the paper clip to insert it, it still makes it the small thumbnail. Hope this helps others who have the same problem as me. Thanks a lot for your prompt help!

Now you can go to Rice or Nice to check out an atrocity of a 'Stang.
