Pics of my soon-to-be project stang

Okay here's the pics. The body itself I expected to be much worse and i mean MUCH. There is some rust but most of it looks like surface rust. There are atleast to holes in the floor boards when the seats are mounted. So those will have to be replaced. From what I can tell the original owner was trying to do a flat black paint on it cheaply done! As soon as my tax return gets here i'm going to pick up the car and bring it home. Anyway I warn you it is a true PROJECT car so it isn't pretty lol.

It's gonna be a stripper. Anyway like I said if i can't build it to the way I really want it then i'm gonna build it into a drag car.

Edit: Anyway like I said this is a car i'm gonna learn to do things on. So i'm not worried about it being rough.

I really really suggest buying a donor car while your at it cause your need it to switch over every single piece over.

Not really none of the factory style interior will be there any longer. Everything is coming out. I'm gonna get a cage put in, racing seats, alluminum dash(seen it in some and really like it) hood will be replaced with a cowl induction hood. New aftermarket bumpers. List goes on and by the time i'm done it'll basicly be a whole new car.

im talking about your body panels. your no way in hell gonna be able to get those panels straight not wit those dents.

Interior is the easiest thing to do in any car that takes no brains to do. I can strip the interior of my car in less then 30 mins thats nothing. Im concerned for your outside look.

I still say forget this and get a "newer" 4 eye less headaches and you can still do all the work you want with like I said alot less headaches and cash needed to spend

Unfortunately my spending isn't that high right now and the outside is the least of my worries. Right now my main goal is to get it running and the interior and to get rid of any rust on the body. Exterior will come last. By the time i'm worried about the looks i should have no problem affording a donor car. At the same time I wana atleast try and work on the current panels. Like I said this is the car i'm using to learn to do the things I dont know how aka body work. That was the primary reason I wanted it.

that ain't nothing..

you guys should see my project.. (see attachment)

only difference is my interior's near mint, except for a cracked steering wheel.

it's all surface rust, except for the 1/4s and fenders... of which NOS pieces were included in the sale.. as well as a nice 455 donor and a very rare GS grille...

The mustang is in alot worse shape. I wouldn't waist a penny trying to get that motor to keep runnin. I would either take on car payments for a newer one or find a better one that doesn't run. people will want to get rid of a car for cheap if it doesnt run. (trust me) If you do keep that I would start by ripping the motor & all the wiring out. Focus on engine, tranny, & suspension. Then go for a used 8.8 rear end. Then a 331 stroker long block. Then you havn't even payed for half of it. I would look around.

wow, don't buy that POS, save up another couple thousand and buy something in better shape, you will save so much money in the long run if you do that. you should probably try to find a v8 car also, unless you are going carb, b/c it will make like a ton easier

Do what ya want man but I wouldn't buy that if I were you. But if you got the patience and time go for it. Alot more to rebuilding a car like that then you think. Real easy to **** a engine up.

I'm up to the challenge. I know it will take a while, but i'm gonna do pretty much all of the work. This car is what i'm going to learn on. I'm highly considering taking a welding class here soon and then buy a welder so I can do that myself.

Also just so everyone knows i'm going to leave it a carb'd motor. Not even gonna fool with FI. Here is my over all plan.

Strip everything out of the car and see how bad the floor is. Then save up and get what i need to fix the floor. Then i'll start sanding down the body to find any rust. After I get all the rust taking care of i'll primer the body. Then i'll look into new motor/trans/rearend. Then go from there.

It amazes me man. All you talk about is how you have no money, hours being cut, so on and so forth, yet you keep buying expensive crap that is not even needed!! One day you talk about how poor you are and that the payments on the ranger are so much, next day you show up with a new $300 camera? Can't buy brents comp or go on any trips with us, yet you buy a new billit grill and a pos mustang?? I dont get it?? Im not trying to be mean, im just concerned. I suck with money, I know I don't have any, cause i do stupid stuff with it. But when I do have some, i make a consicous effort to use it on things that need to be bought or payed for. That mustang is a waste of your hard earned cash. You do work real hard for your money, i know that for sure, 2 jobs would kill me. but you are screwing yourself with all of these things you buy. That stang will cost more than your ranger in the long run, a lot more. Put that money towards the ranger, get it payed off asap, THEN you can start playing with a mustang. You are just asking for bankruptcy man! you know how much a welder costs??? Its just not logical!! Don't get upset and take it the wrong way, I am just a friend being honestly conderned, because I am in a simialr boat. You have yo be smart when you don't have a lot of money, and that stuff just isn't smart. Think "wise investment" you think that would be wise???? fun, most definately, but wise? not now. I say wait.

I agree with Nate on this one...get the truck paid off...nothing like finally owning the vehicle you've been driving for several years...lol. Once you get that ranger paid off, the money will be alot easier to come by, if you can't come up with the money one month to do something to the car, so what, you just wait, if you miss a payment on the truck, it's gone, and someone else is driving your truck around town.

I appreciate your concern nate. I didn't take it the wrong way, but i'm strait on money for the next couple of months. I am about to get rid of the 2 jobs I have for one solid fulltime job. I have a friend who owns and runs his own bread store and i'm highly considering seeing if he still needs help. I know y'all think its stupid to get this car, but I have a good feeling about it. I'm by no far rushing this. At the same time thought as much as you might not think so this is a good deal. The car looks rougher in the pics then in person. As far as brents comp goes I couldn't buy it at the original price he offered. But I was going to buy it untill he made the deal with danger dude. Reason I haven't gone on these trips with you is because that is to much to spend of that. Sure going out of town to go stay at a hotel and get drunk sounds fun, but i personally find it a waste of money and would much rather put it towards something more useful like my truck. Anyway i'm not planning to invest money into the stang right now. I'm just gonna buy it and do all the free stuff I can right now. Then once I have money for it i'm gonna start working on it.

every panel on that thing is trashed, why waste your time looking for rust. you seriously need to reconsider this man, its gonna cost you about $1000-1500 buying new body parts and interior parts for that thing then another $1000-1500 on the engine trans and rear swap. so you are already looking at $2000-3000 in parts alone plus the supplies you'll need and the hundreds of hours of work going into it. save up $2000 and buy something thats got a decent body, decent interior, and has a running 5.0 in it with a 5 speed. i bought my 90 coupe for $2000 (well, traded another car i paid $2000 for it) and it had a decent interior, decent body, 5 speed, bullet proof rearend, nice 5.0 with 10k miles on the rebuild, and a fairly long list of aftermarket parts.
