Pics of my car Before its Painted

Ok I am so happy right now, me and my dad just went down to this autobody shop and we are splitting the cost to have the dent removed, body smoothed(little dings), and have it painted. It's going to be the same color , but the guy is going to put a navy blue pearl in the clear coat so it shimmers.

I'm so anxious right now, it goes in on Wednesday!!!!!

the last pic is my beater, I had to get a pic of her.

Ok, it's a decent deal, best estimate Iv'e gotten round here.

He is getting my a new driverside door skin, resecuring side skirts/front bumper with new fasteners(mine all broke), smoothing rear right and front left QP, and repainting the whole car/engine/doorframes for a measly 1800. I swear you drop a few names and BS with people and they will hook you up. He can have it back to me in 4 days he said as well!

The shop's name is Butler's Auto Body in Sweet Vally, PA. He specializes in bodykits, custom installs, fabrication, machinework, and a little bit of engine work.

The cool thing is that the guy is a complete mustang NUT and showed me some pics. He has had a car in a ricer magazine, he has/had a yellow mustang with an erebuni invader kit that won over 30 tropihes. He won every show he attended.

The one guy there is *****g amazing with fiberglass and they are working on a beretta now that is a complete rice wagon. Suicide doors, big ugly long back bumper, the hood and the trunk open up funny. I think the trunk ipens up like a picnic basket but from the insideout. Like ___ --> /___\ --> L__J

I'll get a pic of it on wednesday when I go back there.

its an additive they use on the paint they will use on plastic parts for example bumpers and mirrors since they cotract and expand with heat you need a paint that is fexible the flex additive cause the paint to be more flexible.

sounds good just make SURE you get a warranty in writing for work that labels all areas covered explicitly before you let em touch it so you are covered and they cant deny your claim.

My dad is friends with the guy, but we have a contract stating any damage incurred to the car while there will be covered by them. I don't think they will f me over though.

He uses only PPG quality paints. Besides, I'd rahter have it done by a professional and not have to worry about anything later. Plus he said if anything ever happens to my car he'll repair it for reduced price, since I dumped 1600 bucks there.

You only use flex additive on flexible parts, like bumper covers, rocker moldings ect.The mirrors are a hard TPO plastic and dont need flex.Only need to be properly preped and treated with an adhesion promoter. We ONLY use PPG at our shop.It is definatly top quality paint.Your gonna love the paint with a blue pearl on top of you orignal paint. And that price is a killer deal too.

those mirrors do warp and expand, we use the flex additive on all plastics at the shop were i work. because if not on a hot summer day you will have one pissed off customer.

Flex is mainly used to keep the paint flexible on a bumper cover if the bumper is bumped. In my 10 yrs of doing what I do, I have never seen a painted mirror fail becuase of not using flex. The only plastic contracts and expands are Saturn panels. I am PPG certified in painting Saturn parts and no where is flex required in refinishing the panels. If mirrors are "flexing" that much, some one has problems other then adding flex additive.

are you really serious about the staurn panels not needing flex? we always add flex to those because the move like a damn bumper. i always add flex to plastic parts, ive never met someone who does not.

Remember Kiljosh, no waxing for two weeks.

Also, I'd go heavy on the number of clear coats to make it look like it's wet all the time.
