It was a 3.8, 98, t-top, 5 speed. Just didn't impress me, and that was before I had anything on my car.

The v6 camaro/firebird vs the mustang... the ever long saga... they are equal cars. The only real downfall is the auto mustang sucks compared to the auto in the firebirds. Thats why they beat the autos... the ford tranny just blows. They are both even cars in manual form.

Both run mid 15s stock~ give or take, thats far from needing a couple of bolt ons to run with a stock 99 up gt. Please dont get delusional, its not easy shaving off nearly one and a half seconds.

I ALMOST decided to go with a new camaro/firebird when I got my car, after reading the mustang was on top of the game as far as aftermarket goes by far, and they are cheaper and of course have a massive aftermarket compared to the camaro/firebird. I just knew more about the mustang so I stuck with it. For the price of a v6 camaro/firebird I could have got a nearly new gt (I got my car new)

Not sure what the difference between a 98 and a 99 V6 firebird but I can stomp my friends 98 3800 5 speed like bug on the floor. The problem is the car weights quite a bit more than a V6 mustang or at least it feels like it driving it.

But I do like the Firebird and actually was looking them whenn I decided to get my stang but like what spector said they were very proud of the firebird and would not budge on the price which was 4500 more than my stang

I believe it is a convertable, right? I will tell you like they all told me, convertables are heavier and not as fast. Want to try this 99 GT vert?

the V6 f-bodies arnt too bad, if i remember correctly, they have about 220hp, which is pretty decent, considering the 305 cars had 170 with the TBI's

i tried to race one in my 3.8L bird, which is horribly slow, and he was scared

the 3800 is a nice motor, I've had 3 cars with one... but its been proven, the 3800 monte carlos are typically faster, and mine only ran a 15.8 @ ~86 MPH

I've beaten a large handful of v6 maros with that thing.. track and otherwise..

..
..

my only question is why did you go auto?
if you went manual you wouldn't be wondering how that v6 5 speed rustang owned you..
