pics of tire shop damage to my car

what is the broken tube? The other tube in the photo is the fuel line... what's the other?

also, in talks with the tire shop today, they have no intentions of paying for the damage they did, instead, they said "it's the muffler shops fault"... even though the exhaust worked just fine for a year, and very soon after getting off the lift at the tire shop, these problems suddenly started. They wrote me a note to give to the muffler shop, as well as an attourney if we pick to go that way... I have a feeling the tire shop will still end up paying for it, but now I don't just want them to pay for the tube, they can buy me a new muffler... maybe pay to repair my dented floor pan too. Their manager was a TOTAL dick to me... and believe it or not, I wasn't mean to him at all. After he got done yelling at me, literally, I informed him I would have my attourney send him a letter, and we'll see who will pay for what then.

The damage, what I can see, shows a fresh break on at least that last pic. Not a year old muffler shop job. I'd document the damage real well and hit small claims court.

looks like they tried to jack up the car with the axle (or lift it near the back) and missed while going up, bent the muffler up..

the one tube looks like EVAP the other looks like fuel..

if they jacked it up by the exhaust then how can it be the mufflers fault... depending on what really happend... they are probably just trying to cover their back.

it was Goodyear. And the jack didn't lift the exhaust... or so they said. What I'm thinking happened, if this is true, is that the rear end unloaded, and thus would go down, the mufflers then, in relation, would go up. Then, when the car was let down, the mufflers should go down... except, for some WEIRD reason, the pass. muffler got pinned. They wrote out a letter stating it was the muffler shop's fault, and literally YELLED at me in front of all of Riverside Dr. in Iowa City.... I told the guy to get the **** off me, and that he's the one that ****ed up my car, got the statement, and said "I'll have a reply, an estimate, and a letter to my attorney to your supervisor in the mail". Also, I'm going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. This is why business's have accident insurance. So I am mad right now, and when I get my estimate, I'm going through a FORD DEALERSHIP... so they can really pay out the ***, and now I don't just want the aluminum tube fixed, they can pay me for the muffler.. and the dented floor pan and any other damage too. They want to be asses, well I can play that game

the rear end is fully independent of the exhaust, or should be, raising or lowering the car should have no effect on the exhaust, some times when really raising the car the upper control arms can rub on the exhaust but should have NO contact with the muffler.

I just said they were the ones that were responsible since the car worked perfectly fine up until we left their shop... thus, it must've been done there... as the exhaust was on and working just fine for the previous 12 months... and within no time of leaving their shop, bad stuff happens.
