muh 5 oh!

Ive had this thing laying around for a while, i cleaned it up a bit (if you think its dirty now...you shoulda seen it before), and i just set the heads and intake on it, and hung my headers just for the heck of it

i still need the upper motor mount brackets, upper intake and throttle body, all the engine hardware, water pump, pulleys, alternator bracket, oil pump, oil pickup, and a bunch of patience, because im going to be doing a lot of my own custom touches under the hood of this thing when the time comes

im ditching the a/c, power steering, smog, and all the tensioners, running a summit alternator bracket, and a proper waterpump, so the front of the engine will be empty, and ill probably run under drive pulleys because they can be had cheap, the wiring harness will be modified significantly, to get rid of all the extra BS i dont need, its staying speed density untill im able to really afford all the work i want, a long with an A9L or A9P

We won a 5.0 at a car show, but it's probably just going to sit in the garage until we sell it.

Re: muh 5 oh!

It's just the short block, no extras. I think dad is gonna sell it for a little over a $1,000. Let me know if you are interested. You can always come by and look at it too.

Re: muh 5 oh!

It's like a 85 or something rebuilt. But it was rebuilt by NAPA so it's probably as good as new, some people just have rebuilt anxiety. Includes gaskets.

Re: muh 5 oh!

The day we won it, a guy offered us a $1,000 srtait up, but we've been researching around here, and we could get a little more than that localy. From Ford, it'd be $2,000 new.

Re: muh 5 oh!

from Ford, its a BRAND NEW engine

through napa, its a rebuild

basically, a rebuild would consist of about 600 dollars in machine work, and 150 dollars in supplies

Re: muh 5 oh!

You won't get a recently rebuilt 5.0L Ford engine from a junk yard for a few hundred, not unless he does not know what he has, and in that case you probably would not either. You might get one that runs but is about worn out for that.
