What ive been up to

See that poking out? Yeah, thats what ive been up to

its a T3/T04B V-trim hybrid, .60/.63 a/r, its a pretty bad little *****, 12psi on this is faster than 18psi with my stock IHI, which i totally destroyed, stool up is just slighly slower, but if i were to get exhaust on it, itll scream

while the turbo went on, a bypass valve got plumbed in, and a few other odds and ends

also with the turbo, i got this on:

Got a fuel rail, with what appears to be an old style Kirban adjustable regulator, a fuel pressure gauge, and a cleaned up set of injectors

I have a dual pillar pod on the way, a new boost controller, and soon il be getting some silicone hoses for the intercooler, and possibly a 65mm throttle body

Re: What ive been up to

sweet. i remember 12psi on my evo16g was comparable to 20psi on my little t25. then again, 20psi on my evo16g was like 15psi on my buddies 60trim.

btw glad to see youre back, me and monkey are having trouble being the only guys with turbo knowledge.

Re: What ive been up to

yeah, gotta watch out for the guys who just talk big and dont know nearly as much as they think

according to the compressor map of this turbo, its more of a "flow" turbo, not so much a pressure turbo, so once i can get the cam in it, port the head with some big valves, and port the intake and exhaust manifolds (soon hopefully), i should have the potential to put down about 375 at the wheels, ill really need some big injectors and a tuner at that point

but for now, its pretty nasty on the street, once i get the boost controller in, i should be going to the track

Re: What ive been up to

heres a shot of the tarbo without the intercooler on, you can also see my braided water feed, which was a temp job untill i can properly run it, my coolant and oil feeds will both be braided stainless, and ill probably be ditching the a/c here soon, it doesnt work, and it needs a complete overhaul, so ill take it out, and when i can afford to rebuild it, ill put it back on

those are the best kind. airflow makes the power, psi is just how hard the turbo has to work to make that flow.

and nice coolant line. youd make an excellent dsmer.

That depends on your setup, if you have a setup with large chamber volume, and large port volume, a flow turbo works great, but engines with those low volume, long ports, and smaller chamber volume, a pressure based turbo works best

for my setup, a pressure based turbo would work best, but the price was right, and i can change the setup untill it works well enough with the turbo

dsmer? come on man, we all know braided stainless has been around before DSMs

Re: What ive been up to

and for another update

spent 2.5 hours taking out the a/c, cleaning up some wiring, and cleaning up the engine bay

Amazingly, you can see the original engine block color

no, i meant you would make a great dsmer cause of the way you transitioned the bridge between rubber coolant hose and SS lines. a hose clamp tight as can be is a dsmers answer to all things that have to do with coolant/oil leaks from a tube of sorts.

Re: What ive been up to

ahhh, gotchya

actually, from the factory, its a hard line that goes to the coolant feed rail, but there is a section of coolant hose between the hard line, and the feed rail, so its kinda factoryish in that aspect

eventually, almost all of the coolant hoses will be braides stainless, its much more durable and lasts longer than normal rubber hose
