Track times to follow soon now

woohoo!

RPS single plate clutch and stainless clutch line. Clutch is rated at a conservative 500ft/lbs.

It's always funny to post my stuff and get barely any response since it's not a mustang part

Re: Track times to follow soon now

sweet, im use to 95% of people running ACT though. tell me how that one feels when you get it installed, i like a heavy clutch, i hated my act cause i was hoping it would be heavier feeling, but it made the pedal pressure lighter than stock.

Should last for a while. It's the transfer case that I'm worried about

Spector -- hydraulic clutch??? It's a manual clutch. No hydraulic tranny on my car

Thomas -- The ACT on the Evo is heavy. The one for the DSM is a 2100lb and the one for the Evo is a 2900lb. This clutch is supposed to be a little lighter than the ACT so you can finese and feather the clutch easier.

Might be a hydraulic clutch line, but I don't think so. I know the clutch isn't hydraulic at all

umm, theres more than one application

ACT2100 is well suited for stock to moderate FWD apps(like what i had)
ACT2600 is a good performer for AWD with under 400hp, or FWD at any level.
ACT2900 is what the big guys get for their AWD's.

but be wary of act, alot of people running them with AWD have problems, mainly due to install error, by leaving out special "alignment dowels" between the tranny and engine, it allows the tranny and motor to shift and cause misalignment during acceleration, and can lead to premature(takes only a day or two) clutch failure. i dont know if evo's have the same config, but id let a shop do it.

Re: Track times to follow soon now

The problem with letting shops do it, is theyre more likely to leave out the dowels, and **** like that because they might not know the car specifically

for the evo, act only sells the 2900lb clutch. The president of ACT is a member on the evo board. Answers a ton of questions about his product and most other manufacture's products. Awesome guy.

I am having a shop install it. I should get it back tomorrow actually.

Tbird -- The shop is quite familiar with Evos. The owner has an Evo and the #2 guy, head mechanic, had a 700whp evo and sold it for another project car.

Good

a buddy of mine has an 88 TC, just like mine but white, he blew the headgasket, didnt have time to change it, so he dropped it off at the dealership, they called him with an estimate of 1300, he was like "wtf 130 for a headgasket?!", and they replied "usually when you blow a headgasket in a 4.6L, its best to replace both", my friend didnt say anything other than "dont touch my car, ill be there in a half hour to get it"
