Some new moddage.

Finally got around to some mods ive been talking about, and needing to do. First up:

3" exhaust nigga!

My mounting of the factory muffler hangers.

With the exhaust like it is, it doesnt make a single difference in sound. Sounds exactly like it did with the factory downpipe and cat. The real difference is power. The turbo spools faster, spool sooner, and when it spools, it makes a whole hell of a lot more power. I wish i would have done this a lot sooner.

I put the exhaust on last night, and finally beat on it this morning, it made my pants tight.

And the next mod, which i completed earlier today:

Thats actually a cheap ebay intake for a 5.0 mustang. I already had the powerstroke coupler, and the section of tube there for my bypass valve, so the stang cold air went in rather easily. Im using the cheesy filter for now, untill i buy a 90 degree coupler, and a nice, big K&N filter for it.

Power gains suprised me. Its much more responsive, the turbo spools faster yet, makes more power, and it sounds killer under boost. The exhaust took out a lot of the spool sound, and the cold air brought it back. It even makes my bypass valve sound like a blow off valve.

Yep, but on these cars, we call them "interheaters", because when youre not at highway speed, the intercooler gets pretty warm

I couldnt tell ya. Im a terrible driver at the track, so i bog the living hell out of it, get a 2.8 60ft, and by the time the car is motivated, i already blew the run.

If i could drive it well, it should run low 14's, which for the mods ive done, is pretty damn good, considering the only horsepower making mods is the turbo, intake and exhaust.

I cant see that justifying the 100 dollar difference in price.

Other than the chrome, theyre nearly identical. The real difference is the fenderwell plate on the ebay one has a big grommet, which is the main reason i bought it, so the pipe can slide in or out of it, for added adjustability. The BBK's is tack welded to the plate.

Re: Some new moddage.

and another mod:

Finally got a BOV on it. This one works really well for the car. Its an HKS SSQV "made in china" ripoff. Compaired to the Bosch bypass valve setup i had on it, this actually makes more power. The Bosch would leak boost, not blow off very well, and wasnt very durable. This bastard keeps the turbo spooled, and it comes up into boost a hell of a lot faster. I keep missing shifts because it comes up through the RPM's much quicker.
