Tried that new ICE wax, got some night photos 56k no

Well I waxed the car yesterday with that ICE stuff... turned out pretty nice. I got bored of studying for finals today, so I decided to go throw another coat on there and it looked even better. To procrastinate more, I decided to go shoot some photos. Ended up in the parking garage at KU, and heres the results. The first two show the reflection from that ICE stuff. Remember, this is 12 year old paint on a car thats been outside most of its life.

I was outside all day Friday washing/claying/waxing for the car show. Now the paint feels slippery.

I used that ICE also and it seemed to work well.

Re: Tried that new ICE wax, got some night photos 56k no

people ask me all the time to do their car, first they would have to pay me far more than they want (usually they expect 20 bucks for it all LOL my butt...) and then they expect me to make it look like mine. If you let it go long enough very little can be done ... you neglect your stuff it looks like crap lol. Gotta keep em up and not let them get down and in bad shape regardless.

Definitely. I gotta get out and clean mine today. You would not believe the number of bugs plastered all across the front end of my car. In one trip to Texas and back, I easily cut the world's bug population in half.

It sucks when you get bug craters. All you can do is get repainted.

I start off with a Clay Magic clay bar, to rid the paint of surface contaminants that don't come off with washing.

Then I use the Meguiar's #82 Swirl Free Polish, this leaves the surface squeaky clean to the touch. I bought this online from Premium Auto Care & Car Detailing Supplies. It was $20 for a 32 oz, but from what I see they don't carry it anymore. I found some on eBay for a GREAT price... eBay Motors: Meguiars Swirl Free Polish Qt M-8232 *NEW* (item 8057078853 end time Jun-14-06 18:43:40 PDT)

I then use S100 SEC (Shine Enhancing Cleanser). This product is mostly advertised towards Harley-Davidson owners... I couldn't find it anywhere else but Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealers, but at $9.99 per 16 oz. bottle, you can't beat it.

After this, the surface is ready for sealing. For this, I use Meguiar's NXT. Now this product is meant to be left on the surface for 15 minutes to ensure the sealing is complete.

Now as for tools, a Porter Cable 7424 orbital is best to use with the right pads.

haha thats one way to do it. Or just get a yellow foam pad, turn ur buffer to about 1700 RPM,use Blue Coral® Velvet Cut™ "The latest in automotive appearance technology, Blue Coral® Velvet Cut™ provides outstanding gloss to the treated vehicle surface. With no silicones, waxes or fillers, Blue Coral® Velvet Cut™ is silicone free for body and paint shop use and compatible with all modern automotive finishes. Blue Coral® Velvet Cut™ will restore a high luster shine to painted surfaces that have light oxidation, scratches or environmental surface damage. Removes fine to moderate finish imperfections including swirl marks. Works great with both foam and wool buffing pads. To get the best results, use at 1,800-2,500 rpm. Works well with orbital buffers, too." also when u put ax on ur car dont go round and round, go back and forth strokes.

or if u like brands, use what he said :Meguiars Body Shop Professional Swirl Free Polish

Swirl Free Polish is a high performance polish that eliminates swirl marks fast. Specially blended polish with cleaning power removes fine scratches. Smooth, fast application and easy wipe-off. Restores a glistening “new paint” shine.

I love Detailing cars, but most of my wax and cleaners are not "in store" items, just helps i worked for carmax and a carwash as well as my dad ran a carwash for many years so we know a hand full of people in the detail market.

I have never used a buffer to wax a car, hand waxing is always best! Turtle wax has a reputation for being easy to apply, and doesn't last hardly any time at all, cheap crap mostly, don't know about this ice stuff.

Get out of those store bought brands, most of those pastes, like Turtle Wax, are too abrasive for a paint surface. Once you find what professional detailers use, you'll never find them in an autoparts store. (except maybe a few tricks of the trade)

yup most people dont know all the steps.. they think that u can wash ur car, put some XXX brand on it and it will last for 3 years.. BS when i worked at Carmax we had to go to a class *i didnt go, cause i had years of detailing be4 this* but i have a folder of steps.. kinda cool, but lots of hard work.
