my newest addition :D

ok, so this is why I went to Pennsylvania... it's a 2002 Mustang GT, sonic blue, omg, I love it. It's a 5 speed. Considering I've never even attempted to start a manual, I don't think I did too badly on the way home... I'm actually pretty 'decent' at shifting now. I love the car though, seriously... torque FTW. It has 75,000 miles, which was kinda high... but the car sounds great, no 'bad noises' at all... here are a couple pics, I'll actually take pics later, I'm very very tired. I've slept 7 hours in the last 2 days... the rest of the time was pure driving. Anyway, on with the pics...

I have the stock spoiler... it will be going back on. Other than the CAI, I don't believe it has anything else done to it... minus the 17"x9" Cobra's

Once you get used to the manual, you'll never want to go back. Congrats on the Sonic Blue too. I think it's one of the best looking Ford paint colors ever...

Re: my newest addition :D

dude dont be scurred of teh mileage. i got my 02 with 78k on it. modulars last pretty long, and the Tremec 3650 can handle alot of abuse(which is why it shifts like a mack)

told you itd be better to wait a lil longer for something you want.

id trade those silver cobras for a set of chrome ones, cause they look just too bland. if they were the earlier years with more contrast in the rim itself rather than just 5 flat spokes, it might be different. but chrome on sonic blue is a super clean combo IMO.

All I ever had was manual shift in a Performance car but now I like having a auto. Now in traffic I can drink coffee, mess with the radio and drive at the same time. I dont mind leaving the knuckle dragging neanderthal shifting days behind me!!!!

Re: my newest addition :D

honestly, there's no feeling like hitting "trac off" and getting on it from a stop light. so, at least right now, I'm really enjoying the manual. I will get the chrome Cobra's.... or, maybe some chrome or hypercoated FR500's for the car eventually... but I'm happy right now, and the rims don't look bad at all, so I might as well wait and get other things first... like polished rear bumper inserts.

Re: my newest addition :D

I had never driven a manual ever and I purchased my 01 brand new and drove it home with out killing it once... its pretty easy to learn. Take some advice as you start moding the car. Do it right the first time no short cuts or no name brands take your time save up for the good stuff and you will be happier in the end.

I dont think sports car and auto go together myself ... they are to blah... not bad for old people though I guess

Re: my newest addition :D

yeah, if I mod, I plan on doing it right. Now, I'm just waiting for some suggestions on what to get for it. I sort of want to do mainly appearance stuff until driving it is instinctive. So, I bought some polished stainless steel bumper inserts, cause they'll look great. And, I want to buy some more interior aluminum... and hook up my new amp and sub

if those are the same rims, i think they are just powdercoated chrome ones...........you dont even need to swap. just get some brake cleaner and scrub the powercoat off of them.

from what i understand, they take some of the chrome rims, powdercoat them and then put them on the cobras, and for some reason, chrome rims, although they take less time/money to make, cost more as an option from ford and the more expensive powdercoated ones are cheaper

check on svtperformance, i think there is a more detailed write up about that

It depends what you're in it for. A good, stalled auto is better for drag racing. If you're into the twisties, and/or impressing high school kids, you're better off with the manual.

sweet car beaner...i'd say go with exhaust soon, just b/c of the awesome sound that thing will give you, esp compared to teh v6. When i hear a gt (or cobra) with exhaust, i am sooo much more jealous than when i just see a gt with stock mufflers.

I think the chrome rims paint the inside of the rim and you can remove that, I dont think the rims are chrome and then painted over.

yeah, I want to get the exhaust done... I'm thinking Borla. I want something super quiet at cruising speeds, but decently loud, with good 'rumble' when I get on it. I don't want something that screams.

first mods -

Gears(4.1's if planning on staying n/a, 3.73's if going FI)
handheld (diablo or sct)
exhaust(spintechs ftw)
short throw
intake(theyre cheap, why not)
plenum/tb combo(not mac tb though, its a pile)

i did a 14.022 with all that minus the gears, which aint too shabby if you ask me, seeing as i know my launches at the track could see some improvement.

ok, out of there, this is what I am currently seeing for a future for the car, and in order...
it already has a CAI.
exhaust, Borla cat-back (maybe done there, may some day swap cats for a hi-flow catted x-pipe/h-pipe)
short throw
I need to see what net gains the plenum/tb combo gets before I get too excited over it.
gears, I'll get 3.73's... my buddy has 4.10's, and has almost no first gear. and, I'll get the tuner at the same time. After this, I may be done. I know gears are one of the best "bang for your buck" mods, but I really don't care how fast I go with it... I'm just enjoying having a nice car, that comes fast from the factory. Everything I get for it, will be things that enhance the driving experience... hence, the Borla's... which I want before the end of summer.

The trottle body/plenum combo from Accufab(I believe) is dyno proven to increase by 20 hp over stock. Couple that with a good tune, nice exhaust and some gearing and I would be happy performance wise for awhile.

Where in PA were you?
