You mean the vertical door hinges?
Actually, they are pretty darn cool

Re: Pics of my red 2002 GT Convertible

You sir have the archetype of mustangs according to Bill Ford Jr.

A red mustang convertible with a v8 engine and a great sound system...I'm sure vertical doors weren't in the mix but they do work

Re: Pics of my red 2002 GT Convertible

One of the things that I have discovered taking my cars to car shows down here is that there is different levels of competition depending on the type of car, the type of show, etc
For me to compete at the level I want to with my car means that my car has to be at a certain level, ie: vertical doors, engine and interior dress up goodies, etc. Having said that, I would never add anything to my car that I personally think is idiotic just to try and compete with some other cars. I happen to think that vertical doors for example, in the right venue of course, look pretty cool so I had no problem with getting those installed. I also like the fact that they are installed in the stock factory mounting locations so if I ever change my mind or sell the car and want to keep the fancy hinges, I can simply swap it back to the stock factory hinges.
This Sunday the 11th (tomorrow) there is a huge Mustang show in Fajardo PR. They are expecting something like 600 Mustangs. I have gone to this show every year now for the past four years and it is a great show. I have added some mods and upgraded a few additional goodies on my Stang in time for this show. Of course I will post some pics from this show so you can see how my red GT vert is coming along

It's all about what you're wanting to do. I personally wouldn't put those doors on my cars but if you like em go for it.

Car does look good.

Re: Pics of my red 2002 GT Convertible

I haven't changed the doors on my car, just the hinges. The new hinges still open up the doors just like they did before and to the untrained eye you would never know anything about the way the doors open and close was any different from the way it left the Ford factory. That is until you decide to "lift" the doors up.

Thanks for the compliments on my car. Wait until you see how it looks at the show tomorrow.
They are calling for rain all day Sunday so let's cross our fingers that they are wrong...

The mirrors are interesting..and I'd look into some spacers for those rear wheels to give it a better stance.

Re: Pics of my red 2002 GT Convertible

The rims are 18" Bullitts. We had to add thin spacers on the front so the wheels would clear the break caliper. Your right that I need to find thicker spacers for the back now to kick those rear wheels out more.
As for the side mirrors, these are the same style side mirrors I have had on my blue 2000 V6 since last year. I think they kind of grow on you. I wanted a set of the two piece Cobra mirrors that have the fold away feature like a lot of the new cars have now. I liked the fact that you could do a two tone paint scheme with them. But finding a good set for sale is near impossible and even if you can find them for sale they are extremely expensive, so these seemed to be the next best thing at least for now.
I recenly noticed in the Feb 2010 issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords on page 70 there is a story about Donnie Huth and his 1997 SVT Cobra. He has these same mirrors on his Mustang too and I think they look really good.

Re: Pics of my red 2002 GT Convertible

Yah a nice pair of hubcentric 3/4" or 1" spacers would push those wheels out nicely.

Are the polished Bullitt's off of a 05+ mustang? they look good other than the rear wheels being sucked in.

Re: Pics of my red 2002 GT Convertible

I was told they came off a 2004 GT. I guess he could have purchased them and swapped out the stock 17's before swapping these 18" rims out for a set of 20" Foose rims and selling these to me.
