Re: Check out my Cobra bumper & Painted mirrors!

i love the painted mirrors....i would do that, except im going for a black and orange look and the black mirrors work with the theme

and imo, i like the stock taillights better, but thats just my opinion, and its ur car not mine

Yes, in fact, we can. I was being sarcastic. Note the use of the word "woman." No way in hell would I say that seriously like that. So, what have we learned?

You don't know me.
It's your car, you can do what you want, I don't care.
And last of all you don't have to care if I care, and honestly you shouldn't.

Have you had it to a body shop to make sure it's latched correctly or did you put it on yourself?

The reason I ask is because fiberglass hoods can be very dangerous if the latches on them are not aligned properly. Having a hood fly up on you while driving down the road is not a pleasurable experience.

I dont know what TYPE of paint was used. My friend works as a painter at a body shop he used the same paint he painted my bumper with. It needs to be sanded, primed then painted.... I would let a professional do it. I'd rather it look right than not. It shouldnt be too much to get someone to do it for you at the most I'd say $100 but he only charged me $25.

Re: Check out my Cobra bumper & Painted mirrors!

That wasn't done using a spray bottle. Especially not since it was the same paint used on the bumper. The only way you'll really get them to look that good will be a paint gun.

Start out sanding with a nice low grit, probably 80, then 180... 220... 320. Then prime, and sand again with 320, 400, and maybe 600 to finish, depending on how picky you are.

You're not going to be able to scuff it up and spray with a aerosol can and get it to turn out that well.

Note: I do not do body work for a living so everything I said should be taken with a grain of salt. This is just what I've picked up from watching my Dad do paint work and watching the various car shows on Sat. mornings. *K-thnx bye!*

Re: Check out my Cobra bumper & Painted mirrors!

For a finish like that you will have to sand smooth (or use a power tool to do the work for you), primer, wet sand the primer. Use an additive in the paint to allow the paint and primer to allow it to adhere to the plastic (same additive used for urethane bumpers/hood scoops/side scoops, etc)

This is a good suggestion.
