progress on computer for the business

Well the first computer for the business (currently unnamed) is coming together. thought I would share the pics

Thermaltake full tower, toolless, dual 120mm and 90 mm fans case

Cooler Master 450w power supply

MSI motherboard

powersupply in the case

mobo in

AMD 64 bit processor

installed

heatsink and fan installed

3.5" floppy with built in multi-card reader

installed into the 3.5" slot with the power and reset buttons

16x DVD-RW

floppy and both DVD-RWs installed into case

during this whole time i had some metal playing in the background so i could concentrate

Western Digital 250Gig Hard Drive installed in the HD rack with 120mm fan

this is what 4Gigs of Corsair XMS RAM look like

blurry yes, but installed

Creative Audigy 4 sound card...this thing is nice, remote, and the external volume control box thingy is so cool. Optical ins and outs, firewire, accepts large jack headphones and mics, RCA cables, MIDI, and SPDIF

installed

and the vid card

installed

basically all i got left is to wire everything up then install windows. Nice i got an OEM version of windows. its funny how it has all the warnings that it must be put on to a preassembled computer and all this other stuff. not used to seeing that.

but that is the progress so far on it. Did most of it in about an hour. Started it last weekend. worked total of about 1 1/2 hours into this computer so far. Only thing i did last weekend was the power supply and MOBO.

Re: progress on computer for the business

haha since when did a "business" pc need a sound and graphics card? **** thats going to be a good business, "sorry sir, let me finish playing Quake4 then i will help you". i wish our company PC's had half the computing power as that, were running crap 2ghz 256mb ram Emachines. i dread coming to work and using it after playing on my pc at home. its sad when the computer has to think to open a folder, and basically gives up on life if your playing the CD through windows media, and try to use Excel.

Re: progress on computer for the business

yes it is not for me or my work. A guy is paying me to build it. Me and a friend are working on starting up a small business. For now just on the side. Maybe one day we can have a full on shop and that could be my 9-5 job

what about the off-road shop? I was excited about that

Plus, once I get done with school and have my degree in Mech. Eng. I can do all kinds of cool ****, and I could help you guys with stuff on the side or something, if you so wished

Re: progress on computer for the business

massive amounts of ram are nice, but not always for gamming machines due to the issues they have.

Re: progress on computer for the business

I've always wanted to try to build computers and sell them for (at least) what I paid for them. That way I could constantly rotate 3 or 4 with the latest hardware through my house all the time. Didn't know if I could get my money back out of it, though...so I haven't ever done it.

Re: progress on computer for the business

Several things Nate, several things. A) he is not financially stable credit wise, B) I dont want to lay my credit on the line like that C) I do not have that kind of cash D) computers stand a lot better chance to go somewhere then a offroad shop.

you can if you go about it the right way, just gotta find the customers, but dont be trying to steal any of mine haha, maybe we can include you in on the business.

Spector I tend to agree. my build sheet had 2 gigs to begin with, however the customer wanted the max the MoBo could support, I bit my tongue from calling him stupid and said ok, more money for me.
