The Street Scene Around My Parts Of The Hood

So yeah seeing as for us up here its about that time where everyone is slowly putting their cars away and only the big boys who wanna make quick cash are still around.

Before anyone says anything all these races were done after 3 am on a very minimially used highway in the area. These were all cash races going from 800- 3000 bucks CASH

Disclaimer: These races were done by professionals. Kids Dont try this at home

Because even though they can take it they are the enemy so they are fair game for a little fun....

I say that for the same reason I rag on chevy/dodge/and other mfgrs' cars...because I am a ford guy. I give them props for getting the power...but damn...they sound like ****, look like ****, and have the reputation of ****...IMHO.

aside from the SS, all other cars are ones i am well versed in. compare a pricey 8k pricetag to get a evo to 600whp, as compared to a cobra to get there:

Evo:
Upgrade the Turbo - 1500$ i believe is the GT35R, the least you will need for the 600 mark
Fuel Setup - 500$ (Injectors, Pump, Regulator)
Tuning Apparatus - 1,200$ (AEM EMS)
Tuning Time - $500 (minimum, takes quite a few runs and time to get EMS dialed in)
Internals - 1500$ (If you can install yourself, even the Evo;s 4g63 cant stand much past 500hp)
Airflow - 500$ (good set of cams)
Miscellaneous - $1,500 (Intake, FMIC+Piping, BOV, Clutch a definate must, boost control, exhaust(home made)).
Total = $7,000ish

Cobra:
Stegemeir StageV Port - $650 i believe
2.93" Upper, 4lb Lower - $400ish (new parts, less if can find used)
tuner / Dynotime - $600
Intake / Exhaust / TB - $800
Cooling - 600$ (Heat Exchanger, Resevoir)
Misc - 600$ (Boost Gauge, Shifter, Clutch(stocker can probably hold unless abused)
Total = $3,500ish.

of course, youre comparing a heavily modded 600whp evo to Smurfin's lightly modded Cobra. even then, if they were to race from a roll, i highly doubt the evo would pull that bad, id estimate at most the evo might get 2-3 cars ahead, but due to AWD is gonna suck going past 130, while the cobra is going to continue pulling past 150. if the race goes long enough, the evo will top out with the cobra still pulling into the distance. 600whp or not, the cobra is geared better for 100+mph, the close ratio 6spd is awesome. true the evos have it as well, but they are geared for the quarter, and just run out of gearing at 165 i believe.

being i live in cali, i dont have to worry about running into a 1000hp supra or 400+hp Evo, because the cops will pull them over just for having those types of cars and impound them after a "Underhood Inspection" reveals their true nature. thus the whole reason i got out of those cars. I can get 600whp out of my cobra still utilizing the Heaton(itll take quite a bit of tuning and luck) and nobody would be the wiser. hell at night i could probably pass a whipple or KB as stock. but cops are trained to know turbo sizes, fuel setups, intake setups, etc, on those types of vehicles.
