****ing awesome.

hit the nail on the head. handling sucks, total 180* from what the original GT500's were about, they were lightened and made to turn. kinda hard to make 4000lbs work in a corner, maybe ford shouldve called up bentley and asked them how they make their tanks maneuver.

I heard FORD historians refer to the Original GT500 as a "Nose heavy pig" in so many words compared to the GT350. It has what, a 427 or 428? The GT350 was the "prototype", lighweight + high horsepower. The orginal GT500 was made for the drag strip, you didn't see many on the twisties.

Re: Fifth Gear - Shelby GT500 Test Drive

See what I'm saying? For all that, interior is crap. I saw that coming..

Oh and is it the thing for every British show that makes any refrence to America about fast food places and over eating? Like England has no fat people. Oh that's right, they eat boiled ANYTHING. BTW who the **** places a car show around in a tea/coffee shop? Oh yes lovely, crumpets and tea, jolly good with a roaring V8 engine trotting about the hills of Yorkshire.

Eat a dick Brits. QUOTE ME ON THAT.

Re: Fifth Gear - Shelby GT500 Test Drive

The original GT500 was not made to handle. It was made for the strip. Like wrecked said, if you wanted a Mustang for handling back then, you got either the GT350 or the Boss 302.

To me, the new GT500 is a perfect throwback to the original. Ok, maybe a little overweight... but whatever.

Re: Fifth Gear - Shelby GT500 Test Drive

I think nearly every issue people have with it would go away if it weighed 3500lbs max~ but thats just me. And I have NO idea how they could ever do such a thing on the new chassis... the engineers for the entire generation let us down... they could have worked to design a lighter car instead of a more "roomy" car... and all that other crap.

If you watch these video's the car handles pretty good. Even passes a C6 Z06, and a brand spanking new Porsche 911 GT3. While I'm sure its not faster than these cars with equal drivers pushing them the same its still pretty impressive.

But don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of the car, it needs to lose a lot of weight off the front of it, PERIOD, but it does pretty good for what it is.

BTW, the name of the show is Top Gear. It took me a minute to figure out why the hell the thread name said "Fifth Gear".

You just destroyed every concept I've ever had of reality.

You mean those ****in' Brits have another show? Named "Something Gear"? And it's about cars?
