My latest project:

Not Mustang related...or even car related, for that matter... Anyway, I've been redoing the watercooling for my little LAN computer. Putting it in a slightly larger case, too. I've been taking some pictures along the way:

The old setup, I'm starting to take it apart:

The old setup, all over the bathroom:

Corrosion in the Storm:

Soaking Storm in Vinegar:

The new case, complete with hole for the radiator:

Mobo and 7800GTX out of the old setup:

Naked 7800GTX:

Motherboard with the waterblock on it:

Maze4 on the 7800GTX:

Doing some test fitting with a dead X-Connect:

What it looks like without the power supply in the way:

Watercooling all hooked up:

Filled up and leak testing:

Radiator and grill all mounted up:

I had some issues with leaking, but I think I've got them all figured out. It's going to sit out in the garage, with the pump running, until tomorrow afternoon when I get out of work. If it hasn't sprung a leak by then, I'll finish hooking everything up, and put power to the real components.

Re: My latest project:

Sweet dude, it'll be nice to get that thing up and running again lol. That, and not having to dodge computer parts all over your house, haha.

Re: My latest project:

did the case already have the bezel and cutout for the WC Radiator?

something always scared me about WC, but pretty soon its going to be mandatory, no fans will be able to cool things down enough, especially when OCin comes into play.

so does the WC setup go from Pump-CPU-GPU-Radiator-Resevoir? or are the CPU and GPU on seperate cooling loops? i would think the same water that gets hot with the cpu then feeding it over the gpu would be warm to the point it negates the purpose. id want them to be on seperate loops, if at all possible. maybe a T/Y fitting could work :chin:

Re: My latest project:

that looks very nice man. My wires on my desktop are (and always have been) a big mess. You must be OCin a good bit with that cooling setup

Naw...not quite . I pulled the old setup apart in the bathroom so that I wouldn't get the coolant on anything that matters. No matter how much you drain it, you always find more coolant when you take everything apart.

That's exactly how it goes. That's a pretty strong pump, so it's moving some pretty serious water. It flows past the cpu and the gpu so fast, the actual difference in water temperature before and after the cpu or gpu blocks is just about neglegible. You certainly can't tell the difference by holding onto the tubes.

I originally got into this to cool my overclocking efforts. What I found, though, was the increase in speed wasn't worth the sacrifice in stability. Now I just do the watercooling because I like to tinker with stuff.

ah thats what i figured with the WC. i dont have enough room in my current case or else id prolly go that route come january (PC Upgrade time again). i need to look for a larger and stronger case.

but yeah, i dont oc the CPU, just the GPU a bit, most the times i just use the settings it gives me when i click "Detect Optimal Settings" or whatever in the nvidia oc menu. but as far as CPU's go, for gaming rigs, they arent the weakest link, just get good ram and a video card and fast hard drives and youre good to go.
