Kyle's Car just got creamed

On his way to my house, some old hag blew through a stop sight and t-boned kyle about an hour ago. Luckily, she hit behind the passenger door because his girlfriend was in the car with him. So far, the whole passenger side is thrashed from the front of the door back. I can't tell if the rear axle is messed up yet but it felt like it was binding up when we drove the 500 feet to my house. His exhaust is all bent up and hanging about 1" off the ground.

Here are some pics from tonight, we are going to get some more tomorrow or friday. He is leaving it here tonight and I am going to check it out tomorrow and see what else might be screwed.

Anyhow, here are the shots of it...

i swear, people can not drive....it was heavy downpours today, and someone passed me over double yellow lines (i was going the speedlimit) and then passed the person in front of me by driving on the shoulder.

glad you are okay kyle, it could have been worse

Re: Kyle's Car just got creamed

Do you owe anything on it?

thats prolly a good 7-8K in repairs, if they fix it right the first time. If you owe, its not totaled unless the cost of repair>loan amount. If you owe it ourtight, then its not totaled unless cost of repairs>wholesale(trade in) value.

so if you owe more than 7-8k, youre prolly fine. if not, youre getting a new car soon.

if it can even be fixed...........kbb suggested retail is 12k, trade in value is 6,665 (fair), 7,880 (good), 8,600 (excellent)..............although the motor runs excellent, the car has had a small fender bender before and rock chips from daily driving, so i'm guessing it would be around 7,880

Re: Kyle's Car just got creamed

basically we are looking to replace the following:
-complete exhaust system (it was jarred and messed up)
-possible axle problem (might be bent in some way)
-new side scoops
-new rear quarter panel
-new passenger door
-new top panel (the panel that contains the rear quarter panel window)
-new pony package v6 rim with hankook ventus hr II tire
-labor

possibly more things once we crawl under it

That is what we couldn't remember last night. As Kyle said, he owns it outright right now...and we checked the blue book last night and if my estimate is correct, it will be totaled out then. :happy1: :woo:

One thing that I Think is going to help total it out is the fact the entire door frame where the latch hooks to the door is just crushed right in. That entire area is going to need to be pulled out and replaced...and I am not sure if that is a replaceable piece or if it is part of the unibody.

I haven't checked inside in the back seat area yet to see if anything was destroyed inside or not. I am going out there shortly to take some good daytime pics and look it over a little closer and see if the axel is in fact fubared.

As sucky as it sounds, I am hoping it is totaled....would be a great way to move into a GT/Cobra/something else faster.

Re: Kyle's Car just got creamed

when they total your car of fix it either way its not worth as much as it would have been before the accident... if they fix it you wont be able to sell it for as much and if they total it you wont get as much, basically you are screwed regardless.

They are only claiming about $4200 in damages. I doubt they are going to total it but I will keep my opinions to myself.

We will see what happens when all is said and done. I don't think they are going to find/look for any other issues. I am, however, going with him when they say it is finished to make sure it is fixed and not half assed.
