"Our Boeing 727 BAX aircraft flight 705BX encountered severe weather over Alberta Canada. The aircraft was cruising at 35,000 feet

when it encountered tennis ball sized hail. The pictures below show some of the damage. All landing lights were destroyed, as was the radar.

Amazingly, the engines continued to work. The crew was forced to make a "blind" emergency landing. Upon safe return to the ground the first

officer and flight engineer quit. It is expected that the aircraft is a total loss as its structural integrity has been compromised."

The engines continued to work because the are required to withstand serious ice conditions. Some of the tests are nuts launching ice chunks into the engine at full throttle.

As for the rest...looks like it'll buff right out with some scratch remover and elbow grease.

I agree wholeheartedly - the body of the plane (the part that was pretty much destroyed) is made by Americans............ the Engines however (which worked fine and appear essentially unharmed) are made by Rolls Royce, in Britain

I thought many of the big Boeing jets used Pratt & Whitney, and/or GE engines also. :dunno:

It just didn't ring true to me that a pilot would dramatically say 'I quit' and walk away, that's like a movie script.
