Pretty cool girl. She did all the work to her explorer and the pics DONT do it justice on how nice it is.

None as of yet, but she was talking about a supercharger. I told her to just build a turbo kit. It's cheaper and you can get more power out of it safely.

Turbo is cheaper? Complete bolt on kit...$4200 for V6...$3900 for 5.0. Welcome to Explorer Express

Would the turbo run less than that? Not a turbo guy so I don't know...

Re: Met up with the admin of the local explorer forum

doubtful. unless you can do your own custom fab work, its going to be an expensive and long journey, and in the end, you will have spent all this money forcing air into a motor that wasnt built for the stresses of what its being forced to work under, so theres another large chunk of money into a built motor.

after all is said and done, a simple bolt-on kit will end up probably being 1,000-1,500$+ more than what it was bought for. alot of people dont think of the smaller things that must be done, like fuel system(Pumps, Regulators, Injectors, Etc), boost gauges, wideband a/f units, Front Mount and piping if it doesnt come with the kit, things like that.

IMO id just SC it, its power where you want it with something large like a SUV.

The kit I posted is a bolt on that does not require internal upgrades...it is fine until you go above 7 psi.

which will be enough for oh, 2 weeks.

once you tell the owner "yeah, you can upp the boost with a 5$ manual boost controller on ebay" its over. same thing with my eclipse, started off at 15psi with the evo16g, and every week it was like "OMG i need more!"
