| Re: Awesome Pics of Mexico City Actually Mexico City is the largest city in the world, estimated to be around 60 million when I lived there back in the early 90s, but there is such a huge amount of homeless and very very poor people that they aren't even registered with the city. The 20 million would be the registered citizens more than likely. These are great pictures. Seeing I haven't been there since 1993, it was great to see a bunch of recognizable things I remember seeing. The house that looks futuristic, I remember my friends used to live down the road from them. Apparently, but not positive, it belonged to a bigwig in the telephone business. Again, thanks for letting me reminisce for awhile on the great times I had living there. Beautiful country and people. I would love to go back there someday. |

| Re: Awesome Pics of Mexico City yeah its got some awesome architecture going on, weve had a few architectural panel jobs going there. you can do alot of awesome things when you get out of the normal metal looking panels and venture into the more abstract color side of the spectrum, mixed in with central america architecture.

| Re: Awesome Pics of Mexico City True I was basing it off of the suburbs as well but a large majority of the poverty level aren't even registered with the city or state in Mexico City. The estimates put it much higher when those individuals are taken into consideration. But I'm only going by what I was told by the embassy in Mexico City. A couple other sites show various stats that aren't close to either one of ours. List of cities by population - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia BBC NEWS | | Urbanisation
But regardless, to stay focused on the pictures. Thanx for the memories |

I would love to go back there someday. | Wow!! let me explain to you that people is not register in the city. Mexicans same as US Citizens have a voting card however what counts the people is the census, this is done house by house every 10 years and it is very exact, opposite to the US you will not see as many homeless in the streets, most people even when they are working in the streets HAVE a house. I am surprise that you say things like that there are 60 milliom people, you obviously have never even visit Mexico City. Yes there is poor people but they are happy en general, remember that money is not everything in life.
Not just the pictures are beautiful so is the country and the people, people that lived in Mexico in the 90s know how good Mexico was and why there was not middle class coming to the US because it was much better, that changed because of the crime but still a very good place to live if you are young, it is really fun and you have much more freedom even when you sleep in your parents house.
Mexico has great buildings and houses very creative, if you have a chance to go to the City go to Santa Fe the buildings and house are really nice. There are many places but I like Santa Fe the best because it is a new development so the architects are really doing great things.

As a matter of fact I did live there. I lived there for 6 months with my family. Even though I spent most of my time in Cuernavaca going to school, I was back at home in Mexico City on most weekends. At no point did I ever mention that the Mexicans weren't happy or that money was everything. I was only referring to the population estimates. I was only relaying what I was told by some of the higher ups in Mexico City and I was referring to the federal district AND the surrounding area. Apparently you must have found something subliminal in my text that no one else did seeing that somehow you were under the impression that I was desensitizing the Mexican people and their culture. I loved living there and enjoyed everything about that country. |
