Re: Gun Control is Bull****

Has anyone thought that we couldn't have prevented this...it's just one of those things that happens. Even if he was sent to a counselor, how would that have stopped him.

Stop blaming it on the amount of damn bullets in the gun and blame it on the person. I can speed load my gun just as fast with 10 round mags as 30 round mags. And a backpack full of 10 round mags is just as deadly as a backpack full of 30 round mags.

Not to mention...if someone truly has control over their gun....a 10 round clip is going to kill 10 people...x 2 guns...that's 20 dead....seems just as bad to me.

Re: Gun Control is Bull****

Myself and a few friends (who all have CCW's BTW) were discussing this last night.

Let's say they ban all weapon purchases from this point on. Guess what, that just means the weapons already in circulation are going to be sold for a higher price. Meaning, the people who are wanting guns to kill people and commit crimes are still going to have guns, while the average citizen who wants a gun for safety/ hunting/ sport will not be able to afford one. This way, when a person breaks into your home in the middle of the night with a pistol, you will have to fight them off with your hands, leaving them with the upper hand.

As far as campus safety goes, how about a civilian task force who, when there is a security concern, is teamed up with a member of the Campus Police Department to secure the campus. Even if you had an officer for every building on a campus, there is no way one officer could hold the building against something like that.

The task force should have to be certified in both weapons safety and marksmanship. Also, there should be monthly or bimonthly training sessions you must attend where there will be not only book training but also situational training. I helped run a training program for the local SWAT team and it was a very successful venture. Not only did the SWAT team learn from the exercises, those of us that were helping with it saw what happens from their viewpoint.

This way, if something like this was to happen again, we could call upon this task force to help secure the campus and thwart off a threat on the students and innocent civilians.

Unless measures are taken, there is no way we can prevent something like this from happening again. If there would have just been one professor or student in that building who had a legal carry weapon on their person, who knows what the outcome could have been. As long as we are preventing any weapons from our college campuses, there is always the threat of someone committing a mass murder such as this.

Re: Gun Control is Bull****

That type of thing will never happen and here is why. We as a society have moved into a mental state that says the government is responsible for everything in our lives. They should feed us, cloth us, and protect us. Many in government believe this, and many...many...citizens also believe this.

We are no longer a "Take the bull by the horns" country...we are becoming more of a "Mother may I" country. Responsibility for ones actions and reactions is no longer valid. Everyone else is responsible for your actions and reactions now.

This country was created to get away from England and its ridiculous taxes. If you look at history, we are going right back around that circle. Taxes continue to go up...and we are becoming pussified just like those in England. One day history is going to repeat itself and their will be a new declaration of independence once those with a "can do" mentality get tired enough with the "let me do for you" people.

Here's a few interesting reads on allowing students and faculty with permits carry on campus.

Classically Liberal: Dozens massacred in gun free zone. AGAIN!
Classically Liberal: When mass killers meet armed resistance.

Read this and tell me if it doesn't change your mind about gun control on campus.

Haha, should have told me. A local gun store was selling Smith and Wesson pistols for cost or under costs. They set the record for the most handguns sold in a single weekend, something around 500 lol.

I would...but we're not allowed to carry on base. So I'd have to leave the weapon at the house when I went to work, which means that it would pretty much always sit at the house.

+1.

I am trying to get into the company my G/F works for doing insurance adjustments (their adjusters make over 100k a year for going to accidents and ****...sign me up)...and they require adjusters to carry.

However, even if I don't go there...with the number of car jackings and senseless shootings over here lately...it is time to pack a little surprise for everyone.

Re: Gun Control is Bull****

I will say, for anyone who is wanting to get a handgun, go to the training. Learn how to use it and use it effectively. Having a gun will do you no good if you can't hit anything.

I'd look into getting involved with a local shooting club and doing a competition like IDPA or the sorts. Something that will help your skills and confidence with the weapon.

I have never bought a weapon with the intent of self defense or prevention, but, I do know that if it came down to it, I am fully capable of protecting myself and my loved ones against an attack.

You are all set then....and can probably shoot better than a lot of cops I know....and better than the ones from that bank robbery in cali a few years back where they kept shooting the perps in their armor instead of in their faces.

I actually believe this to be true as well. I think within the next 30 years, there will be another uprising.

Re: Gun Control is Bull****

I cant wait for my garand

Oh I just remembered this story

Over in Los Angeles, we have an indoor shooting range "LA Gun Club" where you can rent pistols, rifles, shotguns, fun stuff. Anyhow, I was at home when I heard some nut decided to go on a rampage after he rented a gun from the gun club. He took the gun he was going to rent, went into the range and loaded up, then came back out and began shooting.

Result?

I think one person injured or killed, and the shooter was gunned down by the rest of the staff who had guns on them.

yup its time for hammer control too. its obvious after running out of ammo he was going to use the hammer to bash in heads. now you will have to wait 6 months for home depot to do a background check anytime you need a new hammer.

I hope I never have to use a gun to defend myself, but I sure do try to practice a few times a month. I'm looking forward to some IDPA shoots too

It might...but it leaves your head completely exposed...and once you don't fall from the first couple of shots...the crook might wake up and pop you in the face.

Every citizen should have to watch that video. Hopefully, one day, they won't decided to make criminals out of gun owners and forcefully take their guns. How many would fight back, and how many would just turn them over to avoid going to jail?

If you really care about this issue, you should

1. get a hunting license (whether you use it or not).
2. join the NRA (whether you own a gun or not).

The politicians look at statistics, so we need to pad them.
