Driving in the snow is a blast sometimes!
Yes it is the best time to practice on your drifting techniques without going through tires A's bad.

Could have been worse, plenty of suspension parts that bend.
I smacked a curb in my old Honda once and the upper and lower control arms on the rear driver side were bent to ****! Damn snow hid the curb island in the parking lot I was playing in!

I'm not that upset over it. Luckily the Wheel Doctor can fix it...

Sad thing is though I was actually trying to drive safely for once...

Whats amazing is the wrecker that came and got it got it out of the ditch without damaging it even worse. The only damage I could see was the tailpipes were smashed up.

Oh man that sucks! I'm almost out of beer myself. The wheel too. Me driving in snow would be a disaster.

This is great. I love the *** hole who decided to cut off a Marta bus and block the whole highway. People loose their minds when it snows here.

Its just that they really shouldn't be driving. No one has snow tires and the dmv really isn't equipped for a big storm. Hope everyone stays safe.

Re: The Great Snowpression

Poor Yellow car ... glad it got out ok , Here were expecting snow later I 'm hoping it'll hold off to after I get home from work . 2011 GT seems to get better traction than my 2000 . The tires sure will be better than drivin on snow with Drag Radials I've done that , and it was a rather unpleasant experience .

Why not spend the night at the fire hall? That's what my wife has to do when she's on call at the hospital and we have bad weather coming through.

Re: The Great Snowpression

I had planned on staying there, but I was told that the main roads were not as bad as it seemed on TV and since almost my whole drive is interstate I decided to go for it. By the time I realized it was horrible I could not turn around. Afraid of getting stuck on an uphill off ramp... so slow and steady.

Looking back.... I would have stayed there!!! It was a stupid decision but it all worked out!

I don't see anyway that sentence can start with "Haha" , I am sure you did not mean it that way, but I believe that I am a very careful driver, and very capable driver.
My experience with racing has taught me how to drive in extreme conditions, my experience as a firefighter has taught me that even the most experienced and capable drivers can do something stupid, or get into a situation that can Kill or injure.
It does not matter how good a driver you are... you WILL screw up someday. Firefighters are no different.

Re: The Great Snowpression

Does any one have one of the new 2011 5.0s? I was screwing around in my hotel's parking lot tonight on the ice and pulled up the e-brake to try and slide sideways and the motor shut off. Is that some type of safety feature on them?

If its a manual trans and you didn't push the clutch in when you did it, you probably just "killed" it!
Next time just give her a little gas to slide!

Yeah I think that is what I did. Probably want to turn off TC too. Oh well, last thing I need is to get kicked out of hotel because I was doing doughnuts in the parking lot, lol

Lol! Forgot about TC, another reason I love older cars! And yes I know you can turn it off, but have just never felt the need for it. If I want to have traction control, I just let out of the throttle!

Fair enough, unfortunately it isn't optional. It has saved my *** in the rain a few times though.

Had a little fun in the focus sunday night/monday. I forgot how much fun it is to drift a fwd car. E-brake and gas at the same time is a new experience.
