Re: 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged

not to bash, but it's the Dodge Neon SRT of the Chevy family.

My brother and I went to this BBQ and this girl who works with us introduced us to her boy friend who has the Cobalt SS and she said, "This is the guy with the SS Monte Carlo" and he's like "Oh cool, hey"

lol only associated by the bow tie.

oh and the front wheel drive XP

Re: 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged

Oops no, that's the SS, this is the SS Supercharged

Equipped to move, this 205-horsepower all-aluminum dual overhead cam, four-cylinder engine is built off the strengths of the original, naturally aspirated 2.2L ECOTEC engine.

Re: 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged

they dyno at nearly 200/180 so they are a bit under rated. It is a 2.0L not a 2.2.... why they didnt use the 2.4 in all of them who the crap knows...

they offer a stage 2 kit under warranty to up the power to around 240~/220

Re: 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged

well that sounds a bit better, but still, how much more is the stage 2 over the regular ss coup, not the supercharged one.

Re: 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged

Interesting, I wonder why they just didn't put the ECOTEC in it? Good enough little motor by itself, then add some boost. :dunno:

Yeah, I see they put one in it that is based off the ecotec design, but why not just put the original in?

not even close.

i dont like the srt4 much other than its potential, but to compare it to a Slobalt SS.......

stock for stock, comparing a Cobalt SS to a SRT4 is like putting a Termie next to Mach1. both are pretty sweet, but one has way way more potential than the other, and its going to show it in everything it does.

id take the srt4 over the SS anyday of the week. i think a closer stock for stock comparison would be a RSX-S/Civic Si or MazdaSpeed 3, maybe the SVT or Saleen Focus (whichever one comes with the useless nitrous system that voids warranty once used)

Re: 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged

Anyone have info on the potential power of the Cobalt SS? To me it looks like a slow heavy front wheel drive econo car.

Maybe from a roll, which always shows who is the better driver and who has the better car.

Re: 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged

You can get a mazda speed3 for the same price as that cobalt ss supercharged and I would much rather have the spd3 due to the 263 turbocharge hp. Not to mention better looks and probably better build quality.

I'd rather get a 2008 Lancer with all the goodies, fun econo car with fun electronics

I have no idea what all had been done to it, but me and a buddy of mine with a 100 shot on his GT "encountered" one. We decided to try em out and that little charger squeeled like a stuck pig. Now mind you, this is an auto GT with a 100 shot, it hung with us until about 100mph, then started falling behind...slowly. So they do have pretty decent potential.

I'm not sure...I raced one from a 10 roll giving him the hit and me in 3rd gear him in 1st...it got ugly quick...and that was when I wasn't "only" 450ish hp.

Yeah I was just joking around. I'm sure it would take a good bit for him to even hang with a stock Terminator. :chin:
