Re: My new ride....

its hard to tell how good it looks from that picture... it truly is a car that needs to be seen to be appreciated. I just really wanted a sporty, RWD, sedan... and this is what came of that.

Zim, I dunno what your plans for it are, ala if your modding it or not but. Those cars sound real nice with an exhaust. I would grab a K&N and a nice sporty sounding muffler and then some big nasty rims.

Re: My new ride....

I spent all day with my buddy at a Nissan dealership. He got this 2002 Altima SL edition, which has leather seats, seat warmers, blue tooth, power seating, bose sound system. It has 38k miles, and they wanted 16-17k for it. He wanted to spend only 15, and they had us there for 3 and a half hours trying to get a good price for paying monthly and such.

It went from, no we can't give you the 330ish dollar per month for 60 months. We can only do 457 dollars per month for 72 months.

To this: Ok 332 per month for 60 months.

It took 3 and a half hours to go from "No we can't do anything" to "Ok we can do what you want"

I ****ing hate car dealerships. The only thing I wanted to do all day was test drive new cars, but all we did was test drive 2 Altimas and then we sat around arguing.

welcome to the world of car sales. that's why I like to go with people when they want to buy a cat or truck. most people don't know how much you can get from the dealers if you stick to your ground. I worked for dealerships for over 5 years as a tech. what I found is that it doesn't matter what amount you are paying for the car but the monthly payment. if they give you a great price they will try to make it up in financing. just my .02 cents

Re: My new ride....

what you have to do is play "**** the Dealer"

Find the car you want, get the information, and get the loan through your bank. You will likely end up with lower payments, lower interest rate, and a shorter term. Then on top of that you can haggle the price of the car, not payments/interest/down and all that crap. you can go in, tell them you want to buy this car at this price, you will be getting third party financing. you can take a 17k$ vehicle down to 14K$ when you tell them it will be purchased in full, be it cash or bank check whatever.

it also helps to have a buddy in the Car Sales business, he can be your wingman and let you know what to say, when you are getting the shaft, and when you hold the cards and if its fold time or bluff time, and when to walk to get them to budge.

Re: My new ride....

the only problem is to get a better deal through a bank is a lot harder if you have less than perfect credit. if you fall into this party like myself you can get a better deal through the dealers lender cause they have a lot more pull than you. this is what I have found in my experance

on another note for Zim. I just saw a esposide of "Rides" where Lexus put a 400hp V8 into an IS 300

Youre wrong, dealers will give you a better price if you finance with them rather than a 3rd party. People that come in and say... whats your best cash price? Yeah, that doesnt do ****. If someone finances through the dealership, the bank or whatever that the dealership goes through actually pays the car dealer to have them finance through them... so, the price will actually be lower if you finance through the dealership. On top of that, you can ALWAYS get a lower rate through a dealer than you can walking into your bank/credit union/whatever other funds source you have.
