Well I am in Montgomery again. Drill weekends this weekend. So I am at work. We are fighting with the nose landing gear doors trying to get them rigged. Already have worked through lunch and nearly being done, my supervisor comes out and says I have to go to a meeting.
I am a Self Aid-Buddy Care Instructor for my unit. (I teach first aid and combat life saving stuff)...scary thought aint it. Forgot I had an SABC meeting today at 1230..so with 5 minutes to go, I rush over there and make it. There for 10 minutes when we are told to go back to our shops and meet back at another building for a training class.
Well about an hour later we are at the old ball fields carrying around litters. (stretchers for those that dont know) Damn did that suck....stuck with all these medical folks, no lunch, and it was in the 80s with no cloud in the sky...so it was pretty warm.
Well during this time we get to see a few things.
First a CH-47 Chinook flying around dropping cargo. Sorry for the camera phone pics...it is all i had
then four of our C-130s were flying around
But as I started to watch..the cargo ramp and door was opened
Then stuff started coming out of the back of it.
sorry aparently when I zoom...it actually makes the resolution smaller
then carrying more litters. Sorry finger was in the way
But it was all worth it in the end
Got about a 20-30 minute flight in one of the Chinooks for our hard work...I must say, never have riding in a helicopter before...it was a wierd feeling when we first started taking off. Especially since inside it reminded me a lot of being in a C-130..just not as much room. Almost makes me want to go ahead and make that jump to the Army as I was thinking of to be a Helo crew chief...almost.
But all in all, it was a blast and a good drill weekend.
