Re: For you Thomas

yeah thats hella old.

crankwalk is just a good excuse to build a 6bolt. only the 7bolt motors get the infamous Crankwalk, and its usually 95-97's and of those its usually fwd. though ive yet to know anyone personally who has gotten it.

I'm willing to bet that no one who reads this cares about the details...yet everyone probably found the pic funny.

yours was a non-turbo pos 1g. its like the worst of the worst. even 2g non-turbos are piles of garbage, my cousins 96 GS went through 2 trannies, and a motor rebuild (spun bearings).

had you have come to the darkside and bought a GST/GSX (or gotten a turbo dsm right off the bat) you'd feel totally different about the car, but i guess because yours was a POS it means they all are, which is pretty untrue. ive found the crappiness of the vehicle is mostly due to the owner or quality of modifications done, IE half assing **** (standard DSM method of operations) is directly responsible for unreliability issues. the other side is making twice as much power as stock levels and parts break, which is mostly true on any car, make 800whp on a Cobra and you find out quickly what parts ford cheaped out on.

I agree. Brandon is incredibly hard on his cars. I mean, you've all seen the black '01 V6. His Cobra will be lucky to last another month.

notice i said "Mostly" numnuts, if he didnt mod it then the unreliability factor lies within the car itself or previous owners. hell, if abuse played a factor in the cars unreliability, you can always look towards previous owners, im sure he wasnt the first owner......

basically mitsu cheaped out on a few things (well, a few things you shouldnt cheap out on!) and one of them were the main bearing endcaps or some **** like that wear out over time (some say the lack of a oil squirter in the location) and allows the crank to "walk". first signs of it are a clutch that gets stuck on a gradual left turn. next to go is the crank position sensor, because as the crank walks itself out of the block it takes out the CPS.

nowadays CW is uncommon, mostly because dsm's are so old that they are at the point mileage wise that if they havent walked yet, they arent going to.

there are also the reports that half the CW "victims" didnt have CW at all, they just heard the hype and misdiagnosed it or used it as an excuse to throw a built 6bolt motor (90-91 motors) in there.

like i said, i know 10 people within a 2 hour radius, all with 2g's and nobody has walked yet. its all hype and its sad its such a little issue its all that can be said bad about the cars, other than the fact they are made by mitsu.
