Colorado vacation photos

I figured after posting my car looking bad over here, I should post some good pictures of it too I took these while on vacation in Colorado. Had a lot of fun, and really enjoying the look of the car now that the paintwork is done. Click on any of the thumbnails for larger pictures.

Re: Colorado vacation photos

It was a great vacation, ended up being in the area for nearly a month. I grew up there, so it was good to see friends and family there again, and I try to make it back at least once a year. Really amazing the photos you can take there with very little effort that come out so nice. I do miss the area a lot, but Austin has a lot to offer as well, and I'm enjoying my time here as well.

Re: Colorado vacation photos

The car is very sweet no doubt but was wondering about the other work that was done on it...Can you post some pics of the Audio and Carputer? Along with what hardware you may have gone with?

Would you recommend the shop that you used to address Sideways sloppy work? How professional was their establishment setup and knowledgebase?

I think you said Custom Sounds did the audio work but did they do the carputer as well or was that done correctly by Sideways at the time?

Thanks for sharing your sweet pics too. Love the base color too. I would have gone with that but my neighbor beat me to it so I went with the Tungsten instead. Will edit with a pic asap.

Custom Sounds did a great job with the repair work. I still need to go talk to them again though as I found some other issues from the initial job by Sideways. The specific shop I went to is the one on 183 near Anderson Mill. Jacob Self is the manager there, and is really good about making sure things are right. They aren't specialized in carpc installs, but I'm not sure if really that many shops are. The key thing to do is research it a lot, and be able to go in explaining the way the PC specific pieces need to work. My biggest issue with Sideways is that they didn't listen to everything I had said to so, and never questioned anything if they ran into problems. Where as Custom Sounds had me back in their shop multiple times to make sure both sides agreed on any unknowns.

Attached are some pics of the install. Equipment wise, I went with the Infill G4 computer, a 7 port USB hub in the trunk, and a 4 port hub in the center console. Attached to the computer is an external Turtle Beach sound card, ODB II reader, wireless keyboard receiver, bluetooth dongle, and a WiFi device. Overall, I still haven't gotten the setup to where I want, but I haven't had much time until recently to work with it again. Software wise, Streetdeck kinda imploded support wise, but Centrafuse looks promising. Neither really meet the high bar set by my old empeg-car for music playback and features, but Centrafuse does seem to offer a good CarPC platform to work with. Sadly it is still very much an enthusiast market though, and I'd only recommend it if you are a big techie who likes to tinker, and can stand the frustration of something maybe 80% of the way there.
