Id run from that car unless it was like 3500 bucks
Run a carfax on it if you think you must have it. They will tell you what the diminished value of the car is. Take private party blue book - diminished value. That's what you can offer him. Extra parts are nice but he won't get crap for them if he trades it in so I wouldn't pay him for them either. Maybe kick him an extra 5-800 bucks over the adjusted value to make him think your trying to meet him in the middle. 6k seems high. Especially with the miles. Good luck with your search.

Yeah he thinks it's worth that amount I literally offered him 2 k he thought it was a disrespectful offer but now and days nobody wants to purchase a salvage vehicle. Any whose my buddy offered to sell me his 1966 mustang v6? Only issues it has is its salvage as well he told me to through him an offer ? Idk to stay away from old mustangs.

Is it a 96 or a 66? They didn't have V6 66 mustangs. They are straight 6, and they aren't bad motors. Plus it's easy to swap a 289 in one of those. From the looks of it you are in Cali and it is probably in great shape for its age. A 66 with a salvage title is still a decent ride, especially for a young guy. We don't need a expensive car, just one we can work on and be proud of.

The thing with the 6s is that you have to upgrade the brakes/reared/suspension to Handle the v8. But if you plan to upgrade it all already then the 6 is a good platform to start from

And a salvage title on a classic isn't thatttt big of a deal. As long as it was really totaled. Mine is a salvage title but wasn't wrecked just didn't have a title when I bought it.

I've been wanting a 2014/15 for a while now but in all honesty there's nothing like classic mustangs for the most part people told me to go for it and get it only a few suggested I wait and get a new mustang and or bringing up classic mustang parts being hard to come across.

Classic mustang parts are one of the easiest classic car parts to come by. There are atleast 10 big name company's that only do mustangs. And in all honestly it depends on what you are going to use the car for. If you plan on it being a DD then I'd go for a new car. Classic are fun and easy to work on but they aren't known for reliability. I have a jeep that I DD that being said there's there's not much of a greater feel than driving down the road in my car with me knowing that I have taken the car completely apart and put it back together and it works, well most of the time haha. But I have had some of my best memories building my car. So if you have a couple years and the mind set and dedication to finish it I say go for the classic

If your buying it to keep it------
GO GET IT
Just be prepared to spend a lot of $$$$$$$$$$ to get it reliable and safe to drive.
There are more then a few in my Club's that are just plain sweet. Most of the people that own them spent more money then they paid for the car to get them reliable and totally fun to drive anywhere.
100% well worth spending the money on one of these if planning to keep the car.
National Parts Depot (NPD) has enough old Mustang parts to build a car. There are many and I mean "MANY" places that sell parts or restore old Mustangs. You can actually order a brand new 66 fastback body from the Ford Motor Company. ( Made by a Company and Sold by FORD)
If you can find a 1969 cheap enough, you can put a coyote or any crate engine and any good transmission in it. The 9 inch rear is already there.
Don't ever think you are wasting money on the old Mustangs because the more you spend the more it earns value. ( Only if done right and not just slopped together)
My brothers girlfriend just found new old original door panels for her 69 Mach 1. Expensive "YES" worth it "YES" Now all she needs inside the car is an original steering wheel, The Turkey rod run is coming up and that is on her list of _Have to Find_a new "OLD STOCK" is $1,000 and if she can't find a good one at the swap meet she will just pay up and get it.
Done right-You can't go wrong/
Ronnie

Gina's 69.
She has the emblems for behind the side windows but not putting them on until she can figure a way they won't be stolen.
She drives this Mustang everywhere and with the late crate engine and late 5 speed tranny it is like a new car.
The bottom of this car is as clean as the top and interior.
Not counting labor, she has about $30,000 into her 69 and has turned down as much as $45,000, But it is just not for sale at any price.
That is why i say that if your planning to keep it "BUY IT"
