150mph/GT speedo

I need to know what all I would have to do and what all I would need to buy to make a GT speedo work in my car. I guess first all I would need is the white faced (94-98) GT guages which are like $60... Then I heard I would need to change the main drive shaft in the tranny or something like that?? Could someone explain that more?
Is there anything else that I would need?

its to much work and money
plus even at that your V6 wont ever see past 130 ever :yup:

its very possible to have a v6 hit 130. once he fixes his problems with his top end swap, he will hit it easily.

Buy a 98 GT speedo, install it then you have to remove the transmisssion tail and install at new gear in it. Rob (97Stallion) has done this

Dude my stang has been over 130 so his should be able. I run my car regularly down a closed runway right by my office. I have a 03 Cobra and a SS camaro that run beside me to get speed numbers since I have not installed a GT speedo yet

i dont see how your cars can hit 130. well unless you have a chip and your speed limiter has been changed but other then your v6 will NEVER hit 130. cause believe me if it would have I would have done it a while ago when I had my V6

I had a chip now my computer has been reprogrammed by Jerry at SCT
I have a raised RPM limiter to 6000rpm
I do not have a speed limiter anymore
I have a RPM Cam, Heads and intakes
As well as many more mods
My RWHP is almost double stock HP

Why is it so hard to believe a V6 getting to 130 ????

Simple cause there limited at 118 thats why they cant hit 130

Believe me I had ALOT more mods then you do on my old V6 and it wasnt till I got tuned by Jerry when he was in Fordchip that I hit passed 120 and thats cause he took my limiter off so take that for what its worth

Dude I have a lot more mods than that I only posted some of them. here is all including some that are not speed related. Other than instaliing a stroker kit there is not much for me to do except add a supercharger. I had a nitrous setup but sold it. hell I had a Vortech and sold it also. I like my car being N/A

RGR Stage 3 Intakes, RPM HP Heads and Cam, 60mm TB, 19lb injectors, Flex spacers, Custom 4R70W w/ shiftkit, FMS Aluminum Drive shaft, Jerry tuned SCT custom tuned, Trans cooler, MAC UDP, MAC CAI, cat back duals w/ Dynomax Ultraflows, MAC O/R H pipe, 3.73 w Trac lok, Bullitt struts & shocks, FMC "C" springs, Front and Rear Cobra sway bar, Steeda SFC's, Steeda STB, UPR Shark C&C Plates, 99 GT PBR Front Calipers, ultra clear headlights and corners, Ultra clear GT Foglights, Bullitt Pedals, 98 Cobra Rims
Future Mods:
Install my RPM BV heads with Harland 1.73 Adj RR's

In reality I could care less if you believe me!!! You keep bringing up You were jerry tuned to get past 120. I had a ford chip for 2 years with my speed limiter removed before I was jerry tuned over a year and a half ago. So I have been busting 120 often over 3 years. Sorry

I also have yet to see where anyone said they busted 120 without a tune or chip!!!!

My car tops out at the governor...take that off and I'm almost positive I could top 130. Might have to try that sometime.

So there we go if you werent tuned/ chipped youd never hit that 120 which is what im trying to say. I believe you done it but there it is in type that if you werent tuned you wouldnt get passed that. WHich is what IM trying to say

Dude you were arguing with yourself. I did not see anyone post that they had surpassed their speed limiter who has not already been tuned or have a chip.

Okay bud, I hit 130 on the dyno in 4th gear. I have seen minivans hit 120. I know what you were meaning with the whole chip thing, but in your first thread you made it sound like 3.8's were uncapable of hitting 130.

Anyhow, back to my 150mph speedo Q, exactly what do I have to change in the tranny and how difficult is this? Where do I buy this part? Then do I just get the new guages? Is this just the face I have to change or do I have to get a whole new cluster? Then, what do I have to change when I get 3.73s?

Yeah uncapable of hitting it without a chip. Maybe I was a bit unclear sheesh you guys take things to heart to much sometimes. Without a chip your not hitting 130 just not possible cause all V6s to my knowledge are limited at 118. That clear enough for ya bud

Please tell me where someone said they could hit 130 without a chip? It is pretty common knowledge that you can not go faster than the speedlimiter......

Not to mention the very person you told would never see 130 has a chip plus top end swap

LOL, look I know what my plans are, and I figure especially when I go S/C and shoot for 400+rwhp Ill need a speedo of 150mph at leaste. Plus like Brent said, It would be cool seeing more the 120.
