Mach 460 driver side speakers cutting out

Hello, new here. My 97 cobra stock mach 460 radio driver side speakers cut in and out when on radio. It's almost like going from stereo to mono. If cd gets inserted, speakers work fine. System is all original with no cuts or splices, and is tape player with single cd player below. All amps work correctly. Was wondering if this is a common problem, and what is the next step. Problem doesn't happen all the time, but is getting annoying. Would an antenna signal booster help? Thanks

Re: Mach 460 driver side speakers cutting out

If it cuts in and out, a connection may be loose some where. I would pull out the radio and check the harnesses behind it as well as the harness going into the amps.

At what volume does this happen? The speaker could also be blown. At low volumes it may not be noticeable but when you start to get to an actual listening volume the speaker will can play very distorted. Try switching the front two door speakers then, which is very easy to do. If the driver's speaker still cuts then there is an "internal" problem or really a loose connection, a faulty ground or the similar in the car. However if the passenger speaker now cuts in and out but the driver's plays fine then you have yourself a bad speaker.

if the amps are starting to go bad it can cause all sorts of issues as well
