Boguht my Speakers!!!

My system is coming together nicely now! I just purchased a pair of Polk 5 1/4 GXR5A Speakers for the front!

Polk's GXR5A 5-1/4" 2-way speakers boast impressive performance and cool looks. Duralam composite woofer cones are tough and waterproof — they'll supply you with clear mids and tight bass, while providing superior durability. The butyl rubber surrounds are impervious to the heat and humidity, ensuring long-lasting performance. Efficient 1-1/2" PEI film tweeters broadcast crystalline highs. ABS plastic grilles inspired by MOMO's Quasar 2 wheels show off these potent speakers.

Key Features:
Duralam (tri-laminate silicone lacquered fiber) composite woofer
butyl rubber surround
1-1/2" polyetherimide tweeter
sensitivity 91 dB
frequency response 80-20,000 Hz
recommended power range 2-45 watts RMS
peak power handling 115 watts
top-mount depth 2"
1-year warranty

And to go in the rear I purchased a pair of Polk GXR57 5x7 inch speakers!

Intensify the detail and clarity of your music with a set of Polk GXR57 5"x7"/6"x8" speakers. The Duralam (tri-laminate silicone lacquered fiber) composite woofer punches out tight bass notes. A PEI film tweeter disperses sparkling highs. The butyl rubber surround guards against damaging temperature extremes.

Key Features:
Duralam (tri-laminate silicone lacquered fiber) composite woofer
butyl rubber surround
1-1/2" polyetherimide tweeter
sensitivity 92 dB
frequency response 57-21,000 Hz
recommended power range 2-50 watts RMS
peak power handling 125 watts
top-mount depth 2-3/16"
1-year warranty

They are pretty good. Not top of the line but not bottom. Good for the money!

Have you noticed any design problems with the speaker location in the front? My leg rests right against the damn speaker in the door, so I have to have the balance tuned so far to the left to make it sound right.

But I would like to get new speakers in the rear. Will just upgrading them help out, our will I need to get amps, which would lead to a new head unit?

If you are going to upgrade the speakers upgrade the Front first. They are what you are hearing most of the time. Its up to you whether you get a new headunit or speakers first. I new head unit on factory speakers will sound about the same as aftermarket speakers on a factory head unit. You can power the speakers with your factory head unit ok. Your highs wont be as high and your lows wont be as low. But it will sound better.

I replaced my headunit two years ago and had been running stock speakers up until a few months ago. The change just the head unit made was crazy! The problem with not hearing the music from the driver side speaker was completely gone. I got a little strange and decided to "modify" my rear deck to accept 6x9 speakers and but rockford fosgates in their and am waiting to replace the front stockers. I also have 2 rf 10's in the trunk powered by the 700.1 RF amp... all I can say is badasssssss 8)
