subs and amp

i was wondering if anyone has tryed MTX equipment and has and opinion about it. im thinking about buying

1 MTX AUDIO MXS1004 800 (peak) WATT 10" SUBWOOFER
MTX Audio 4002 MXA4002 Car Amplifier Power Amp 2Ch 400W

would this be enough power in a convertible? plus if anyone has box building experience your expertise would be appreciated b/c im considering building a custom box for my trunk by myself b/c the trunk is very small how it is and i still need room for other stuff.

im also considering 10W7 from jl; and a 9500mtx sub
thanks for your time

if youre also looking at jl subs, go with them over mtx's.

that size amp should be more than enough. i have two audiobahn 10's and i only have a 550s punch amp. its not bridged and the gain is up and the bass on the unit is on -7 (lowest) and with a bass cd, you can hear the amp pushing the subs pretty hard. i am more than sure if i bridged it, i would blow up something or the subs would not last very long.

i would just get a regular car box, it should fit.
