How to attatch new shift boot?

Im getting a new shifter boot and I have to remove my old one and install the new one, any tips on removal and what to use to attatch it again?

No, there's a ring around the bottom with some sort of sealer. Kinda like caulk, but a lot more rubbery and flexible. We cut that stuff all the way around it and just pulled the boot out.

I changed out my entire suspension that weekend at Brent's.
