Re: Locking Fuel Door

after 1987 or around there siphon locks were installed on cars so people couldn't steal gas. back in the day i used to go "siphon hunting" with friends and that's how i came across this fact because most newer cars wouldn't work. Try it on your own car and see if it's possible. or just get a cheap lock at an auto store to put your nerves at rest.

You can go and buy siphon kits with little manual pumps that will work on anything.

Re: Locking Fuel Door

Will it not cause the Check Engine light to come on? I know if you don't tighten the normal cap down it does that.

Re: Locking Fuel Door

WOOT! I want the pink cookie!
The caps are essentialy OE with a lock mechanism so it wont set off the light. I didn't even know that did that...guess I haven't driven off with my tank wide open.

Re: Locking Fuel Door

Sweet. Guess I'll just get that. I'll probably get the Bullitt fuel door and paint it black too. That'll look good. Thanks for the help everyone.

Re: Locking Fuel Door

I hate those locks. I used to work at a full serve station and people would come in with those things on their cars. Those things can be ****ty because if you have too many keys on your keyring and you go to unlock it they will get caught up in the gas door and be annoying.

I would not buy a cheap $5.00 one but get the $15.00 one. You need to remember to hide a spare key inside the car or get one of those magnets to hide on the outside

You guys remember when my ignition switch went out at the beginning of summer. I made some changes. I now have 2 sets of keys one for the car and house key and my office and file cabinet keys. Having more than 5 keys on a keychain is insane unless you are a janitor of a 500 room office complex

So the moral is dont stuff keys on your keychain like a janitor

Re: Locking Fuel Door

So I'm out the other night and I go by Autozone to check for the gas cap. They didn't have one so I went don't to Advance Auto Parts to check as a last resort, well the guy "I don't know people buy these things, if I really wanted you gas I would just poke a hole in your gas tank."
