Possible 460 amp problems?

ok guys, heres the problem. A little history first.
I have a 00 convertible with the mach 460 amp system. I am assuming it has the 460 system, cause it says 460 amps on the tweeters in the doors? When I bought the car used, it had a cheap aftermarket cd player in it. I took that one out and installed a kenwood cd player, with a peripheral electronics fdahw adapter that I bought from circuit city to hook up to the existing wiring and I guess the existing 460 amps.
This morning when I turned the car on, it started making a lot of feedback noise through the speakers with the stereo turned off. I took the car to circuit city, best buy and was quoted about 300 to 500 to bypass the 460 amps?
Is there a way to bypass the amps and just use the radio by itself?

You don't have to bypass the amps. The people at those places are full of ****. What you do, if the system is still good, is just buy the proper connector and plug it right in. The people at Best Buy and stuff don't know their highs from their lows when it comes to stereo installs. I would never trust one of them to touch my car.

That seems pricy anyway. I went to a local speaker shop which is pretty well known where I live in Sarasota and they quoted me at only $150 to rewire amps.

hell for 150 bucks you can buy yourself a new amp, wiring kit and have a new system that sounds even better. ditch those 460s or sell em.
