Re: what type/size of amp

Normally, the rule is get an amp that's around your max power on the speakers. Say, if the speakers are 1000watt max, get an amp that's 1000 watt max, you'll be safe that way.

Re: what type/size of amp

my jbl and punch subs were rated at 750 and i had around 1200 watts going to them and they held up for a long time and are still in good condition. (only stating this so he knows what's possible)
all depends on your set up and what your tastes are. if you feel you wanna crack the pavement later on i'd get a higher output amp. if your amp peaks at 300 your sub will hardly ever get that full peak constantly. i think i paid $115 for a 4 channel 1000 watt amp a year ago. look for deals.

umm yeah, you dont need much amp for that little guy. maybe something like a 400w amp would be more than enough. maybe a little class D kenwood or something.

Re: what type/size of amp

Is there two terminals on the speaker or 4 terminals (places to put speaker wire in)

For the box I would highly recommend you have a Car Audio specialty shop make you the box based on the speaker specifications.

This will net you the best sound.

Re: what type/size of amp

Also...don't buy a cheap amp. You get what you pay for. I had a 1200 watt legacy amp a few years back, paid 115 for it. I now have a 760 watt pioneer amp I paid 140 for...and it pushes more than that legacy could ever do. And anyone who's heard my newest system can vouch a 760 watt amp can sound damn good.

They are decent speakers. Boston Acoustic is amazing though.

Re: what type/size of amp

brent his sub is single voice coil.

pioneer make great speakers. id get a set of either some 3way or 4way speakers for the interior. i had 3 way 5x7(or 5x7 i cant remember) all around in the thunderbird with 4 way 6x9's mounted in the rear decklid, sound quality was amazing. also dont count out component setups, infinity, kicker and alpine being my choice for components.

and most ebay auctions that are buy it now from a large company are usually new in box items. the auction will state it either way.

Re: what type/size of amp

If you are wanting some really clear speakers, go with some boston acoustics or eclipse.

Re: what type/size of amp

I have (2) 10" Kenwood Subs and both are 600 watts each, with an Alpine VPower 600 watt mono amp. The amp is only pushing about 300 watts to each sub, but I have heard my subs bottom out before and yes, I do have the Mach 460 system. Overall I think it all depends on what kind of amp you buy. Top of the line amp, you get what you pay for and nothing less. BTW, www.millionbuy.com has a lot of good deals. I was looking into getting (2) Power Acoustik 12s (FUBAR) but decided that I am going to work on performance first.

Re: what type/size of amp

Ha...well I just bought a set of eclipse 6.5 components for my doors and 100 sq feet of dynamat this week...should keep me busy this weekend. I'm moving the front rev series pioneers to the rear deck, and taking most of the car apart to dynamat it, should be a completely different sounding car after I direct the sound how I want it.
