Re: Best Amp for the price

I have always liked Planet Audio, and I don't believe they are TOO expensive, however, I have been out of the car audio game for a bit so I am not totally sure.

I am like you I have not had any amps in a long while. The last ones I had were JBL and that was so long ago I dont even want to think about it.

Re: Best Amp for the price

kenwood amps are good for cheap general amplification. back in the day i got a 600w for 150, im sure you can get a couple 50-100 watters for cheap, more than enough to drive some mids or component sets. alpine amps are very good when coupled with alpine components. i think as far as musical clarity, alpine and pioneer are still the best in terms of single unit speakers(co/tri/quad-axial), eclipse units sound great also. as far as component sets, Infinity, Kicker, and Audiobahn(yes teh a-bahn) all make super crisp sounding component sets. also, if you can find one amp that can do the same as 2, go for it. as many cars as ive hooked up, id rather have to only hook up one amp, instead of two. for two amps, even if theyre low wattage, youre still going to want to run no less than 4g to the distribution block, then maybe 8g to each amp, then 4g grounds off each, both using a different ground point(grounding both causes feedback). and dont buy the amp wiring kits from a store, they charge like 100 bucks for a 4g kit, **** that. you cna get 4g kits off ebay for 30 bucks shipped, hell if you have the fuse holder already, you can pick up all the 4g wire you need from home depot for 50c a foot i believe, and a set of cable terminators from autozone for 3 bucks.

Re: Best Amp for the price

NO SONY. I have had to many people say that they had to many problems. Sony which was good stuff in the 80's and early 90's was OK but they lost it. When I was in High School Jensen was good and now they are cheap just like Sony.

Here is what I have found as good priced mid fi equipment. Oh I decided to go with a 4 channel amp

Alpine
Infinity JBL same company Harmon same technology
Pioneer
Kenwood
Eclipse

Re: Best Amp for the price

I have a 4 year old Sony Xplod amp thats still working just as fine as the day I got it.

My Sony cd player on the other hand...bad choice. Sometimes I will hit Volume Up or Down and my ATT will come on. Ill go to change a song and my eq settings go nuts.

Some sony stuff I have owned and it worked great but other **** was junk.

not really. most aftermarket decks can do 40x4@4ohm. i know my pioneer did, thus the reason i never had to get a secondary amp for the mids/tweets.

you wanna spend 150 on a amp thatll run interior speakers awesomely,

Sorry but that is 40x4rms No cd player can do 40x4rms

111x4rms is way to much power for a pair of 5x7 and 6x9's

Re: Best Amp for the price

OK I have narrowed down the equipment to 2 brands

1. Alpine CDE-9845F receiver and Alpine MRP-F450 AMP

2. Pioneer 2800 Reveiver and Pioneer GM-6200F

I have listened to both and feel they are near equal. The price difference is to little to be a factor.

Well I am running Infinity 6812 6X8 in the front that are 60W RMS and 9613 6X9 in the rear which are 100W RMS. I dont think 75rms is a big deal on the Alpine besides I am not a wall busting kid who will crank them till they blow. I am 45 and want good sound with a little punch

However saying this I am leaning toward the Pioneer. I really like the subdued black of the receiver

I love the way the Alpines look myself. Plus I can vouce for their quality I have had my CDA-9811 for 4 years and it works perfect still.

Oh and I dunno about you but I cant stand having the slot visible on a CD player anymore.

I like this or this myself

that is what i have in my car, it has the advantage of being AMP-LInk ready so you can control all of your V-12 amp functions from your deck and a fully adjustable cross-over built in

It is a nice deck but I will not spend that much money on a deck. I will spend under 200 for a deck. I really dont need that much control.

Then please get this one. It will last longer just for the fact that it will get less dirt into the cd tray

alpine or pioneer for teh win. id suggest going to best buy/circut city and trying out a few decks to see if you like their menu interfaces and such, if theyre easy to use while driving(i for one MUST have a volume knob and not buttons), etc.

Its like a whole 3 seconds and your cd player lasts so much longer... there is a reason the cheap ones have the slots in the face

What do you think I have been doing. I am not going by what is on a wall. That sucks. I have been to Best Buy 10 times, Circuit city 15 times and Rogers Stereo 7 times. I have been going when they are installing certain systems.

Here is the interesting thing the best sounding is the Panasonic and most installers who use to be Alpine or pioneer fans now have Panasonic. Problem is they are sort of ugly in a dull grey sense. The best after that is a toss up between Clarion ProAudio, Alpine, Pioneer. personally the Clarion is by far the best looking system out there but that is only my opinion.

The speakers are already in the car Infinity 6812 CF's front and infinity 9612i's in the back.
