Bodywork shops in Baton Rouge

So i had an accident several years ago and my driver side door was dented in in a few spots. This caused me to have to use extra force in opening the door. Well, needless to say, the door handle finally broke off the other day. Im looking for a good, affordable shop in Baton Rouge to fix it for me. I got a quote of $2000 from a shop near my home in Metairie which is ridiculous. Additionally, would it be cheaper for me to get a new door skin or just get a whole door from a junkyard or something? Is it hard to transfer everything over like the speaker and lock mechanism? Thanks for any help.

the door skin is generally how you do it, if its JUST the door you can probably have the skin painted and put on with out much hassle. You should NEVER have something painted while its on the car unless its for blending/matching reasons.

true, if its cheaper why not, you can possibly (dont see why not) remove the door skin and use that one its going to be painted anyway so it doesnt have to be a new part.

that would probably be best, although im unsure of whether or not it is just the skin as i havent seen the damage that might be underneath.
