Question How do you clean the inside of your wheels?

Hey everybody,
I wanted to see what you guys do about the problem of brake dust/road grime on the interior of rim?

I use a good cleaner and the place where I buy my supplies from didn't have a solution to the problem. I'd like to find something like a long brush.

Try some "Nevr Dull"...it might be more of a hassle to use than a spray cleaner, but I bet it'll work real good.

Take a 3x3" square and buff the inside of the rim real good, then wipe it good with a soft rag or microfiber towel, something that won't scratch the finish.

hmm. I never thought of that. It would be a lot of work though. Nevr Dull is good stuff. I keep forgetting about it every time I go to wal-mart. It's uses are endless.

I pull the wheels off a few times a year and spray them with degreaser, use a coarse brush, and rinse clean.

Do the same with wheel wells, brakes, and suspension components.

I've found the best way is to pull em off. It's a lot more work but definitely worth it!

I got the stock rim's, which I like. The supply place recommended that with a similar product. The car-wash here in town has a good brush they use.

I clean the inside of mine everytime I wash the car. My suggestion is to treat those wheels like the rest of the car and clean them like you clean the paint, its worth it.

Taking them off is the quickest way, keeping them coated with something to help dust and grime come off easier is also good. The main thing is do it regularly, not every 5 years... I would do it twice a year. Before it gets nice out in the spring and before it gets bad out in the winter.

Yeah that's the best way to go.. I usually try to clean the insides every time I wash. I'm weird about that.

Nothing weird about that...that is one of those things I look at when looking at cars at shows and cars for sale.

That and the engine bay, I can't believe how many people spend hours cleaning the outside and inside of their car and barely touch the engine bay.

Re: How do you clean the inside of your wheels?

I pull mine out and do the same as Lowflyn. I use a wax on my stock 03 cobra wheel which keeps them easy to clean for a while.

It's sad.. Even dealers neglect that sometimes. People are afraid to clean the engine bay. One car wash here won't touch em. I also do a real good wash & engine clean after winter and good detail before winter. A quick wax early summer. Glad to hear I'm not alone..
