Re: Painting hood

Go with base and clear, and don't forget your about reducer. And I would say for the hood to match up right, if it's faded at all (your car's paint), tell him to blend it into the fenders a little. I have that problem right now. Just because it's free doesn't mean it's going to look good, I found out the hard way.

Re: Painting hood

what ever OEM is, remember you get what you pay for and a paint job is in prep and keeping dust/dirt out of the air around the paint while it dries.

Re: Painting hood

Yea, gonna go with base and clear. I was thinking about fading the paint into the fenders, but the top of the fenders are starting to peel clearcoat. correction is the paint code is UA. Ebony Black Clearcoat. Ill post pics when finished.

Re: Painting hood

Good luck and I hope it turns out to suite you. I know I'm going to have to have mine repainted before too long, too many fisheyes in my bumpers.

Re: Painting hood

The best possible finished product is going to involve using a bake booth. But if that's not available, blending the fenders and also repainting the front bumper will look the best. Basically all the front clip needs to be repainted, or else you'll see the shade differences where the parts meet (example: bumper edge meets the fender edge).

Re: Painting hood

Just got it painted, had no problem while painting base. but when clearcoat came, hood was a little bit of a dust magnet, but still looks alot better than it did.
