whos used rubbing compound?

Is this stuff safe on a clearcoat? Theres a couple area's on my car that are rather faded (side skirts, parts of the front bumper) and im just curious if itll make it look all scratched up or if theres actually a layer of oxidation or whatever ON TOP of my clearcoat. Any suggestions aside from repainting? It looks good when wxed, but id like that look at all times.

Re: whos used rubbing compound?

unless u have a high speed buffer i would not try to use RC, there is a slight chance that will just scuff the clear coat. if it is faded (there is a good chance because ur paint is like that just like mine) then there is nothing u can do about it.

I wouldn't use rubbing compound. Get some 3M polish and try that.

Scary stuff.
