Paint Scheme??

I am going to be putting the USA flag on the sides (it will be from the front fender to the end of the door). The flag is kind of the picture below, but without the stars it will have USA. Also it won't be as bright either a little faded away. I jsut want to see what everyone thinks of the other design that I am thinking about putting on the hood (Uncle Sam). What do you guys think??? And thank you so much for taking time to read this.

I'm not feeling it, but, it's your car and I'm sure there's a reason for you wanting to make it so patriotic.

What's the story behind coming up with this paint scheme?

Re: Paint Scheme??

Well I bought this car when I was over in Iraq, it has the Iraqi Operation License Plate and I just wanted to do something to make it unique. I am definelty going to do the flag thing, but I really don't know if I want to do the hood paint job. I just want to hear everyone else's opinions.

Re: Paint Scheme??

I knew there had to be a good reason for it....

I would stick with the flag and leave off the uncle sam. I think uncle sam would be too busy.

However, it might not be a bad idea to get uncle sam UNDER the hood instead of on top of the hood. Remove the hood blanket and have the underside finished and then sammy put on there. That would be a great touch for car shows and what not.

Re: Paint Scheme??

Yea, that's what someone else told me to do too, to put the uncle sam under the hood. Thank you, I think it would look very unique and really cool. Thanks again.

Re: Paint Scheme??

Yah I think it'd look pretty cool for car shows...unique and patriotic. You definitely have a great reason for it and what a better way to display it than on a stang

Post up some pics if you get it done

be careful, there is a fine line between patriotic an tacky... I hate to say that but when it comes to looking good you have to be unbiased.

Re: Paint Scheme??

On the other hand, I was just looking at vinyl decals. This way it will cut down the costs, and I can easily remove the decals. They look awesome, if you go to the right place. Sometimes you can't even tell that they are a decal, they look painted on.

Re: Paint Scheme??

I think it would be cool if you had Uncle Sam flexing on the bottom side of the hood. So when you open the engine bay BOOM their is Uncle Sam ready for action.

You know how you have the rocker panel stripe that has the lettering Mustang. You should peal that off and have the US flag going in its place.

Re: Paint Scheme??

I wouldn't do it; I'm one that thinks it would look tacky. I served 10 yrs in the USAF but when I discharged, I discharged. You wanting to do this tells me you hold high regards for the military/country. This is great for you but what I’ve seen is they use you then when their done with you they toss you aside like an oily rag. It has taken an act of Congress and veterans pushing it for years to get them to care for those severely injured bodily/mentally in past wars.
to you my friend!

Re: Paint Scheme??

can't say i like the idea.. but the story behind it makes sense.

bottom line- its your car, do what you wish. if its done tastefully, it should be fine.

I understand where you are going, and I totally agree with you that when the military is done with yyou they toss you like an oily rag. However, I am doing this for them and for everyone who has served, not just the military, but police officers, fire department members, EMT responders, etc. I don't hold high fregards for the military, I don't think our military is the strongest at all.

Re: Paint Scheme??

Yeah, I would leave the Uncle Sam on the hood idea out. I think a light touch of a fading flag along the door would look pretty good, especially with the blue. I appreciate your unique patriotic pride. Good luck!

Hey, Here are some pics, I hope you all like it. I thought it came out better than I could have imagined... it also looks better in person. Also, on the rear it says "Never Forget The Fallen!"

I would like to do the POW/MIA theme on my hood for the fallen that will never return. It is because of them that we have these freedoms we have..

Re: Paint Scheme??

Good initiative, bad judgment. It looks great, and it's for a good cause, but not something I would do because I wouldn't be able to drive it anywhere except shows and events.

I took the more subtle approach:

Plus I'd rather not spend an assload of money on something that renders my car undriveable on the daily.
