2000 Mustang GT - Intermittent Driver Side Sound

Hi there,

I have a 2000 Mustang GT that is in terms of audio equipment, pretty much stock. The previous owner installed a different head unit (Sony CDX-F5710) to allow iPod use, but other than that, nothing else.

The problem is that sometimes, the driver side speakers stop speaking, or become very very quiet (adjusting fader settings confirms this). Most times, the solution is to turn the volume up very loud, and that returns sound to the driver side speakers, but only for a few minutes. I checked briefly the connections behind the head unit and the speakers but they seem pretty good. I'll check them again tomorrow.

Any ideas what could be causing this or how to fix it?

Re: 2000 Mustang GT - Intermittent Driver Side Sound

if the connection is good its either the head unit not sending the watts to the speaker or the speaker is failing and not using those watts to work~ which if the two I would blame the head unit. One way to confirm is to switch the wires so its another spearker powered by that given output line so if another speaker does the same thing (use the same size speaker to test with) then its the head unit.
