iPod Integration With Stock Audio System

Ok well i ordered and received the ipod integration kit from mp3carpros.com. I just got done installing it, so i thought i would share the install with yall. Here is the link to the kit - FRD03-POD/A iPod Car Pros . this will be my first write up so ill try and do my best. kit was actually really easy.
((safety warning!!)) always disconnect your battery before you do any electrical work! ((safety warning!!))

So when i got it here is what the kit looked like

so first step is to remove the dash around the shifter and the radio. Do forget to first disconnect all the switches and the power outlet, before you pull away the dash

next go ahead and remove the two bolts holding the radio in, and slide the radio out and disconnect the wires. here is a pic of the back of the radio. now i had only two harnesses plugged into it when i took it out but when you put the new harness in you will use all three plugs

here is a pic of the oem harness in the car, the big one will plug into the conversion harness, the small one will plug directly back into the radio.

here is what the conversion harness looks like plugged in.

you will use all three plug locations now. when your done one plug will not be used.

next you need to ground the conversion harness and mount the conversion box with the rca cables up

next you need to create a power source for the ipod charger (you dont have to do this to use it, only if you want to have it charge it too. also the kit comes with a headphone jack also so you can use non-ipod products also) i tapped into the power outlet.

next i would make sure everything works first before you put everything back together. Also you need to run your connections where you want them before you put it back together. once your done everything should look like this. just press your sat button, hook up your ipod and press play. thats all.
. its was a very easy install, and hope this was helpful. thanks go to ipod car pros, i recommend this product.

Nice! Turned out awesome! I have a touch screen Ipod Player Clarion in mine right now. I hardly listen to cds or anything anymore.

Re: iPod Integration With Stock Audio System

So how does this play on the Radio? Does it take a channel, override the AM/FM button, or something else?

In my car I just hit the AUX button and play whatever is connected that way..

Does that make sense in what I am asking?

What kind of stang do you have? Do you have a aux jack? This kit is made for 04 and older stands that didn't have an aux option or iPod option from the factory. It plays through what would be the satilight radio option

Re: iPod Integration With Stock Audio System

My main reason for this kit was that I wanted to keep my stock stereo and didn't want to use a fm transmitter (hate their sound quality). I'm not one to spend money on expensive sound equipment, and I really like the factory sound system in the stang.

Ahh, that makes more sense. I have a 2010 so yea I have the Aux jack.. I was looking on their site and I saw that they didn't have them for my year and I just assumed that they were replacing the Aux jack if they didn't have one.

Re: iPod Integration With Stock Audio System

Hey Dark that looks like a great write up, I'm sorry I don't really have time read the thread.

However I have to put out a warning out there:

There have been problems with iSimple burning out the data connections on iPods. Apparently when you unplug from the iSimple and go to reconnect to your computer the iPod can not be read.

My friend took his iPod into Apple and they confirmed this. The iPod can be fixed, however, it involves sending the iPod to iSimple for repair (they do so free of charge).

Re: iPod Integration With Stock Audio System

I know of the issue. Apparently that was with the old charging system. This is the new 5v system for the touch, and IPhone. haven't had an issue yet
