Re: wax??!!??

Man let me tell you i have tons of bottles of wax in my garage from Black magic to Turtle to Meguiars and Mothers on top of quick detailers and coming from someone that does detailing Meguiars hands down. whether it be their classic/gold line to even the NXT stuff.

So I say try out the NXT even their quick detailing spray is the **** seriously

Re: wax??!!??

NXT is great......For the one day it lasts

Zaino is great if you DO NOT have swirls otherwise its not that great

i reccommend calling scott at specialtymotoring.com and tell him you got his name from SVTPerformance and you'll get 10% off

his stuff did great for me since i HAD LOTS of swirls

Ive never had any issues with NXT with the shine lasting a day. you use the actual wax or quick detail? by hand or buffer?

Honestly my jeep still shines from when i last detailed using nothing but the NXT products then again i have a damn good buffer

pretty much.

Def recomend the gold class just never was a fan of black magic products minus their tire shine

Re: wax??!!??

Meguiar's Gold Class is probably the best you can buy in stores. If you are really serious about the car though, Zaino is where it's at.

Re: wax??!!??

^i'll agree to that with one exception.....If you have heavy swirls in that case you deffinately need something more abraisive like the optimum compound

Re: wax??!!??

all those are crap.

here is your new friend:

We Are Car Care ! Car Wax - Car Polish - Auto Detailing Supplies & Car Accessories

the problem with hand application of wax is this, you cannot breakdown the wax for it to do its job. i used to think hand application was the best, until i saw the use of the PorterCable with Poorboys SSR2.5 followed up with SSR1 with the correct application and buffing process, i was speechless.

i have not used Poorboys SSR as of yet, as even with the PorterCable, you can still mess up the paint if not done properly. I use Optimum Polish and work it in with a orange cutting pad that got rid of almost 95% of my surface scratches and impurities, followed by a quick over Poly-Seal with a smooth cutting pad to seal it in, then i hit it up with a hand applied layer of Natty's Blue. then sometimes after a wash ill go over the hood/roof/decklid with megiars quick detailer and lots of microfibers.

Re: wax??!!??

Optimum compound is a little better for deeper scratches/swirls than the SSR2.5 i know because i use them both side by side

my routine
Dawn wash using 2 bucket meathod
Dry
Clay Bar
Optimum compound with a orange pad and PC on 6
SSR1 with white on 6
Clearkote caranumba glaze with a blue pad on 4
clearkote caranumba moose wax applied by hand
in between full details i use the clearkote quick shine

worked VERY well for getting out swirls i had in my 10 year old paint but still havn't gotten 100% out since they are deeper scratches

oh and specialtymotoring.com > Autogeek

Re: wax??!!??

I personally dont wax my car as I dont need to but thats just me, just use what ever you like and overall it will be fine for 99% of people out there.

The best way to go about it is to take time and take care of the details, those matter the most. If I am breaking a car down to fix the exterior I wash it with dawn twice. Rubbing Compound / Clay bar it then wash again. Then I can begin putting what ever sort of protectant/wax/etc I wish. If you let a car go to long its screwed and you cant do much with it, the number one way to take care of a car is to never let it get messed up to much in the first place, going a month without washing a car.... = bad idea.

Re: wax??!!??

i second that opinion but when your are like me and a freshman in college it is sometime hard to find enough time to fully detail your baby... but i always manage to do something at least twice a month.. and during the summer once a week is nice to get the shine really poping....

oh and if you are going to any carshows... try right before the judges come around to wipe your car down with lemon pinesol... i know some of you are thinking i am crazy... but seriously it will make your car pop like nothing else but when it rains say byebye to the wonderful shine lol... just a thought for that extra advantage

Re: wax??!!??

theres no way im putting pinesol on my paint...

Ive used many different compounds myself, and am a meguiars man, hands down.

Ive also found that a good soap can make a big difference in the feel and shine of your paint. I use the meguairs Gold Glass between my wax jobs, and my paint feels just as smoth as the day waxed it. Its well worth the 9 bucks a bottle.

I recently tried the nxt wax on a friends EVO IX MR, and we loved it. His car took ona completely different look, and it had less than 1000 miles. I cant say enough about the stuff.

Re: wax??!!??

yea the pinesol well remove everything off you paint wether it be wax polish, or glaze but i used it befor a car show and i had alot of people ask me what i did to get that kind of shine out of my paint and i told them that was my little secret but that it took me a couple days of work and it really only took my using an empty detailing spray bottle with lemon pinesol in it lol... but yea a good high quality automotive soap like meguairs will really make a big difference in you paints look because i use gold glass everything just about when i do a complete detail but for just a weekly wash/vacuum i use a normal car soap
