Hood Prop

I just bought a new set of Hood struts and they work awesome. Now I am looking for a way to keep the hood open about a quarter to a halfway for car shows. I want to do this because of the decal on the hood... I still want people to see it but I also want them to see under the hood. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks
Tim

Re: Hood Prop

I've seen people use springs before. Come up with something one-off and make it work.

Re: Hood Prop

ive never liked the half opened hood look... my very first thought is "the engine is nasty" I have not seen hood struts that will do this~ most just use a short prop rod.

Re: Hood Prop

SpectorV, I understand what you are saying, I think this too... I believe it is because there is not enough lighting so you can't see the engine. That's why I was thinking of installing lights of some sort (I kinda have an idea), but will be able to remove them when I am driving the car. I was at a car show over the weekend and one person used 2 things of spray cleaner, to keep the hood open halfway, and it didnt look right. Also I am trying to make it unique, I just want to see everybody's thought on it and see if anyone has even attempted it.

Thanks all!

Re: Hood Prop

some use car springs. In the end a hood up to the normal height looks better to me regardless of whats on the hood. You can always make a car stand and put a pic of the car with the hood down so they can see it on a pic.

Re: Hood Prop

Speaking of under hood lights. When did cars no longer get lights under the hood. I liked having a little light under the hood. It doesn't seem to even be an option any more.

Re: Hood Prop

They stopped it in 97 as my 07 had a light and after that no light under the hood anymore
