Mach Mp3 stereo?

Hey, I just bought an 04' Mustang V6 and the stock head unit in it looks different than anyone I've seen. The only thing it says on it is 'Mach MP3' I know this year had a Mach 460 and Mach 1000 but I haven't really seen anything about a Mach MP3... I'm assuming by MP3 that it means it will read MP3 cd's since I couldn't find a jack for an MP3 player. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the issue for me since I can't really find any info on it and I didn't get an owners manual with the car.

The Mach Stereo systems in the 2004 models will play MP3 CD's, but don't have any MP3 player input jack. They way to tell if you have a 460 or 1000 is to check the trunk. If you have 2 stock sub-woofers and plus and Amplifier deck then you got a 1000, otherwise you will only see 2 amplifiers on the top of the trunk closer to the rear seats. Even though it says Mach MP3 (I think my old one did too) its either a 460 or 1000.

Ok cool, thanks for the help. I'm fairly positive it's a 460 then since there are no subs in the trunk, not sure about the 2 amplifiers though, I'll have to check for those, thanks again.

Re: Mach Mp3 stereo?

I'm pretty sure you have a regular 4 speaker set-up.

Does the H/U look like this one?

Yep, that's it exactly, still hadn't checked for the two amps that a3705872 mentioned... so if I have that head unit it's just a regular 4-speaker system? Thanks for taking the pic and helping me out. Like I said I've had a hard time finding any info on the MACH MP3.

Re: Mach Mp3 stereo?

Yah the MP3 system (with the h/u 02MGGT posted) is the 4 speaker sound system. I believe it was available on the standard and deluxe v6 models starting in 02 went till 04. (until the shaker system began in the new 05 platform)

It's not a bad system by any means and actually is way easier to splice aftermarket amps and subs into since all the p.i.t.a. Mach 460/1000 wiring isn't everywhere.

Here's a site with some Mach systems info:

Re: Mach Mp3 stereo?

Yah you don't see too many cars with the Mach mp3 systems...a lot of them had either the base cd player or the mach 460.

I think I saw one when I was mustang shopping, and I looked at quite a few stangs.
